When does Sulfasalazine kick in

I'm on my 3rd week of taking it and my loose and frequent stools condition has worsened a little bit on it. I'm now up to 3 tablets a day and I'm wondering if this stuff is ever going to work because so far it certainly isn't showing any signs of it. When can I expect to see improvement? I don't have diarrhea regularly and I don't have blood in my stools, I've always just dealt with loose uncomfortable stools that form in smaller thinner individual pieces with an extreme sensitivity to foods that will give me diarrhea like spicy foods, garlic and sugar.

My nephew has Crohns but they never found anything in me except an ulcer in my stomach many years ago and a slightly elevated Crohns level.
