Default soma as a replacement for DHC?

It seems my source prescribe4u for reasonably priced DHC continus 120mg is out of business. Too bad for me, as it really helped with my arthritis pain when I took it with one 10mg diazepam. So, I have been suggested giving Soma a try. Any suggestions in this regard would be much appreciated. I have never tried Soma for arthritis pain...have any of you?

DHC > SOMA IMO; The pain relief can be somewhat ok with SOMA depending on your arthritis type, severity etc, but for me I found that SOMA makes me downright angry. Feel rowdy, aggitated, and that defeats the purpose... hard to find the SOMA Coma I remember from long ago. I do not know ab PC4U, @Jellyfish might have more info... think I have seen them around though.

    Hey Guys,

I should not have written that PS4U is out of business. Sorry. I have been a regular customer using my CC with them and right now I can't. I've e-mailed them an order and have not received a reply...three days ago. I hope they get back to where I can use my CC with them. They were always top notch with my orders but right now I am not having any luck with them. Perhaps one of you all can tell me how to order using my CC with them?

@poppy13..i'm sure i've answered this before, it might not have been you though.

If that's the messgae you got, then it means something was changed on the medical questionaire.
ANY change AT ALL from the defaults, will send it for review, and you'll have to start over again.
This is easily done, with a stray cursor etc..and has been done many, many times by lots of people.

With regards to the reply, 3 days isn't too bad to be honest, some of us are now over a week, with one guy over 2.
They are supposedly out of action until tuesday..when they will start clearing orders.
Time will tell I suppose..it's most certainly not ideal by any standard.

Your email coming back..(this is important) did you use a .com address?

It's such a crying shame that P4U seem to have gone to pot lately, they were one of the best OPs around until December '11. All I can say is, it must be much harder than I would have ever imagined to obtain a reliable Credit Card gateway for an Online Pharmacy - and to retain it. I keep wondering why they lost it - whether it was through excessive chargebacks or that kind of thing...

I used to get my DHC from them, at an OK price (ok in the world of Online Pharmacies). The wholesale price of the brand of DHC that P4U stocked was £4 for 100 tablets, and the cost to me was £65. This seems like a bargain compared to the £106 a bottle I'm paying at the moment from the seemingly most popular OP on PR ^_^. There's a lot of truth in the saying, "A fool and his money are soon parted"!

I'd go back to them in a flash if they could get a CC provider sorted out, but I can't put myself through the Byzantine, antediluvian system they have in place right now. It's a fast route to angst and worry. My fear is that they are going to end up going all Midnight Moon-ish and gradually disintegrate. I really hope I'm wrong because they were once a very fast, trustworthy and efficient vendor.

I don't know if you still looking for different meds for your arthritis pain but if you are I find that Celebrex 200mg twice per day works for me. How I really knew it worked is when ran our and within a few days my old injuries flared flared and ached. Healed broken bones that I had forgotten I had broke were now an issue. Through the years I have since experimented not taking my Celebrex and within days my symptoms would return. My husband also takes it for his arthritis pain in his knees. Hope this gives you some alternate treatment hopes.

@scorpigoh, I' don't think soma is your best choice for arthritis, as it is a muscle relaxant used for spasms, with no real anti inflamamatory effects. In addition Soma can be difficult to find as well. I agree with @queentresa, celebrex is so helpful with arthritis and inflamation. I use it more on a PRN basis when my back flares up, it is very effective for me. If you have never tried soma be careful, it can become very addictive. I have to be honest, it produces a very pleasurable feeling. But actually does little to address the underlying issues of arthritis. Good luck. Hope you find some relief.

@Keith K Stone...humm, I agree with you in regards to trading one addictive drug for another. I have thought about this for a bit and reflected on my own experiences with my Dr. and going thru various antidepressants. That was an interesting perod in my life, as it led me to my addiction to prozac which my Dr. and pharmacy are only too glad to supply me with. So it's Alieve for my arthritis right now and I should be grateful that P4U and IC4U went the way of the spotted owl and the big horn sheep since I had to quit self prescribing DHC for myself due to HUGE price increases for the same pills at other vendors. Anyway, I have learned quite a bit from forum members about arthritis medication this past year and have had a number of highly appreciated leads for sources (sent by friendly and compassionate members of this forum ) for the best diazepam on the planet. So,as I am not needing the diazepam for anger management as I retired from my job where I was so stressed out that I had to find some relief, I can now just relax with my diazepam when I want and enjoy life. Life is good!

RA is insidious, just switched from orencia to enbrel, keeps the flares down, but serious side effects. My own team of health pros don't even get it. That is what brought me to this site. Meds are OK, but the fellowship is what keeps me from face planting myself off the balcony.

    Seriously,

For arthritis you need an anti-inflammatory. The pain in arthritis is due to inflammation of the joints. There are many anti-inflammatories on the market. I personally use Etodolac. Gluclosomine is also anti-inflammatory that can be found at drug stores and health food stores. It is not as harmful on the stomach as prescription drugs like Celebrex (which my ortho swears is shit), naproxen or others.

Soma is a muscle relaxant. And addictive at that.

I personally hate Soma, it makes me wired. I do have a script for Soma with Codeine, but that is not for every day use.

Bacolfen is a muscle relaxant with low abuse potential. You might want to discuss this with your MD, if a muscle relaxant is being advised.

    .
As part of my old age, I regularly take glucosamine and chondroitin for my aches and pains.

My beloved pug, RIP, also took a capsule each day in her old age, a few years before I lost her, to help her hip movement, as recommended by her vet.

I've been taking it so long I don't know if it does anything or not (probably be in a wheel chair without it by now) but there was definitely improvement for my pug.

I know quite a few people who use it for their older aged dogs.

    @Aven

Have you found Soma to be inherently addictive even if it's not used to potentiate opiates or sedatives?

I was recently scripted a small amount & so far it's been really helpful for certain types of pain relief -- but I definitely haven't noticed any euphoric or otherwise mind-altering side effects. I also don't mix it with other meds, though, and I assumed that particular method of misuse of the med was primarily resposible for its bad rap & classification as a controlled substance. Of course, I was warned that tolerance might be an issue with Soma, but then that kind of applies to nearly every scripted substance on the market these days it seems.

In your opinion, is the the average, conscientious patient at risk of becoming addicted to Soma alone, provided they don't use it in conjunction with other addictive meds?

i have Psoriatic arthritis and have been on dihydrocodine and sometimes tramadol for years. i recently tried soma for the first time a few moths back.
it goes very well with dihydrocodine. my hands were so sore i couldn't even
open cartons of juice or certain tins. i don't think soma itself would work for me
