Has anyone tried anti-TNF drugs for RA without using methotrexate with it?

I am 34 and have severe RA. I've tried a number of DMARDs and NSAIDs with no luck. The methotrexate didnt agree with me (so I was miserable and couldn't drink - yuck...) I want to try anti-TNF drugs and my doctor says that the methotrexate isnt required but I may not get the maximum benefits if I dont use them together. I know everyone is different, but just wondering if anyone has tried this and how well it worked or not...

Good luck...my doctor told me the same thing as yours did. And like you, I had HORRIBLE side effects from the methotrexate including hair loss. I was using it to treat RA, psoriasis, and fibromyalgia. I'm just one big walking autoimmune disorder. LOL I hope someone actually has some info on this as I'd be very interested in it. I've gone through hell trying to treat my RA as well with very few results. Good luck!
