Did you or do you know anyone who took Ambien during pregnancy
I've taken Ambien for my insomnia for years. I am pregnant and made it through about my first four months without the Ambien, but I was miserable and started having anxiety attacks from lack of sleep. I told my doctor about my situation and he said that I could go back on the Ambien, 10 mg at night as needed. I am now halfway through my sixth month, and find that I have to take the Ambien every night to get any sleep at all. I start out by taking a pill I have cut in half, but after an hour or more of not sleeping I give in and take the second half of the pill. I wish I didn't need it every night, but between my full time job, caring for my three year old, etc., etc., I really need as much sleep as I am able to get. I was wondering if anyone out there is/was in a similar situation, and did you worry about the effects of the medication on your baby?

If your doctor recommended it,and said it was okay for it to be taken. Then he's obviously weighed the risks, and sees more benefit from you taking it. So,I wouldn't worry. And 10mg is a pretty small dose.

My dad is an OB/GYN and my best friend is seeing him as her doctor and he prescribed her 10 Mg Ambien in her 7th month and she has been using it daily ever since! it is I believe a category C drug meaning it could cause problems to your baby but has never been proven to do so...so if the benefits of using it outweighs the risk then go ahead and use it. I think you will be fine if you take it! you need to get some sleep! I've been taking unisom every night since about 4 months to help with sleep and nausea! good luck
