Is it normal to feel like this the first few days of taking Zolpidem (Ambien)
I went to the doctor the other day for insomnia and was prescribed generic brand Ambien. I was told to take it for seven nights straight at the same time every night. Last night was the third night and I must say, I have had a wicked hangover every day I've taken it. It takes me about an hour to fall asleep and then I feel awful the next day. I'm curious to know if this is common and if it will go away or if I should just stop taking it. I would call the doctor, but today is Saturday. Can anyone tell me what their experience has been with this stuff?

sometimes it takes time to get used to a new pill. if u really dont like the hangover feeling then stop talking the pill and go to ur doctor monday. maybe he/she can perscribe another pill thats not so harsh on u the next day.

I care for a disabled lady who often can not sleep. She takes Zolpidem when she has not slept for a couple of nights straight. I can always tell when she has had to take her tablets as the following day she is so knocked off that she sleeps almost 15 hours and when I call on her about 5pm, she is still in bed dozing!

Now obviously this could also be an accumulative build up of not being able to sleep and then taking a pill, but it takes her a good couple of days to fully recover.

She finds Acupuncture ideal for helping her sleep most of the time.

The hangover feeling and the headaches are common for a lot of people.

For more information call your pharmacist and speak to one, I have done this a few times.

I am one of the few that had an opposite reaction, I took it slept for an hour and a half woke up clear headed and had more energy than the energizer bunny, which wasn't a good thing at 3 am
