Yes I knew there was no generic for lunesta. That is why I said I refused to get a script for it from my doctor because of the price. I don't know what Rebd was talking about.

However, if yours is real (and it sounds like it may not be), it can be a nice knocker-outer once a week or less. I still recommend you try zaleplon (sonata) if your problem is actually FALLING asleep (vs staying asleep). Super short half-life.
Thanks. Sonata/Zaleplon is one that I have'nt tried. Also Dont think i've ever tried Zoplicone either (is that lunesta?? i'm all confused now) That's what i'm after... a short half life. And hopefully no metallic taste or floaty feeling the next day (this is what I get with Ambien). I've seen these meds offered at a few IOP's so I may have to give em a shot.

have tried ambien, zopiclone, nitrazepam, valium, lorazepam and klonopin. I find that zopiclone works best for me but bad aftertaste that lasted the whole day next day. nitrazepam will keep me asleep the whole night plus the whole day the next day, it also make me want to have sex too after taking them

Guys try out Soma or Meprobamate!!

I have hardcore insomnia since 16 years, the only thing that REALLY works is Soma / Meprobamate.
I have found it out recently by accident.
It numbs / relaxes my mind and i wake up not feeling poisened / collapsed and brain sick.
It feels very natural, i take 1 tablet right before bedtime and go to bed and sleep and wake up rested, just like it should be .....LOVE it!!!
    Highly recommended!!

Someone mentioned Flexeril for sleep and now that I think of it I have taken that for my back and had to stop because of how sleepy it made me (and I have insomnia). Also Zanaflex. When the doc gave that to me I was smart and took it when my daughter was at daycare. I could not stay awake in the middle of the day. So maybe muscle relaxers are another avenue for you to try. Also been prescribed trazodone which is an anti depressant I believe, also used off label for insomnia. I did not have much luck with that but others seem to like it. Maybe also take some tryptophan with whatever else you try. Good luck!

Thanks for taking the time for writing this up. I'm having serious bouts with insomnia and simply need something to turn my brain off at night. This sounds like a good option. I'm uninsured currently, so since I'm new to this I will have to figure out how to get a prescription and then buy it. But, this seems to confirm what I've been reading about seroquel at 50mg. Appreciate your post.

Well, that sounds like a PERFECT weekend to me!! I don't know about sleeping the whole next day though. But if I'm tired from a whole week of NOT sleeping, that might not be too bad!

try and be careful (seroquel ) is an anti-psychotic, and as such looses efficacy ,,,and weight gain is also a consideration

Since Roofies are hard to find I'd say Dormicum ,on the benzo side.
Soma knocks me down bigtime, muscle relaxer.
A night dose of GHB-GBL-1,4BDO will make you sleep in a way you won't be arousable for the next three (steer clear from this stuff if you have an addictive personality, these ain't no toys)

And of course you've always a card to play, propofol, a general anestethic......:-)

I have tried every drug under the sun for Insommnia....just recently, I had to move etc., and the 4-6 hours of exercise put me under for about 6 hours...unheard of, I had to force myself to shower and getup, repeat the process, ...kept gettingard 4-6 hours sleep...could not fu##in beleive it.
    Hard, but amazing...especcially after a great shower...my 2.6 cents

In my opinion Zopiclone and Lunesta is the best follwed by Nitrazapam. I know some people get a metallic taste in there mouth after taking Zoppy, but take a few mints in the morning, soon gets rid of it. I have also recently found Pregabalin to be quite useful.

I agree there with you @Gman. Have tried Seroquel 50mg instant release and didn't work for me. Just make me really sleepy, but gave me restless legs, so stopped it.

However I am currently taking Seroquel 50mg XL for sleep in the morning which I'm goint to stop as I just don't think it is helping me in anyway. Time will tell. I will keep people updated as to wheather this disrupts my sleep or not.

Zolpidem. 5-10 minutes and I wake up from 8 hours off sleep. Really good, happy user.

And if I havent used it for quite some time and force myself to stay wake then I will have some very interesting and euphoric sensations. Really funny, but I dont do it that often.

Another Z-class product is Zolpiclone, but as some1 already mentioned it gives a metallic taste the day after. Disgusting.

I recently tried Trazodone 100mg...some success....a rather innocuous side effect profile for most..keep trying...you will get there!

Thanks @Gman for your comments. I personally hate trazodone as well, don't know what it is does'nt help me anyway in regards to sleep.. Think I will stick to Zoppys, on a need to use basis.

    Thanks for the advice anyway.

I have to back up the Trazadone thing. I was briefly on it for depression, mostly because of the severe anxiety and Insomnia I had suffered for years, I was prescribed Trazadone...which I was very wary of trying but my GP also said it would help me sleep.
    It didn't.
All it did was suck every bit of energy from my body. I couldn't even lift up my arms to open cupboards and I was like a zombie, the whole experience was a disaster.

Well I got some 30mg Temazepam from my Doc the other day and I must say it sucks. I remember it working quite well. By the time time the night was over I had taken 3 capsules! Thats crazy. I dont have a tolerance for this stuff so I dont know wtf is going on w me and my body?? It was the Mylan brand yellow caps.
