No I've never heard of it but you can check it out at http://pdrhealth.com Fiorinal isn't much of a pain medication either. It's not much better than you can get OTC.The only benifit it has over OTC's is as a muscle relaxer. Codeine is as about as weak of an opiate as you can get. They are ok for toothaches and minor pain but nothing like hydrocodone.
Here are a few sites you may want to look at

If you want a good tip for helping yourself get good pain care here is what I do every day,, and have for several years
Start a pain journal. Nothing fancy,, I use a steno pad for each month or so. Record
when you hurt
where you hurt
what the pain is like
how badly you hurt on a scale of 1-10
and how the pain is effecting your daily life.
It's hard to communicate your condition and problems in the few minutes you have with the doctor. You can just make a summary or notes, or take the journal in to the doctor with you. It will give him a better idea of what you are dealing with on a daily basis and also help him determine what medication would best treat your pain. I've been a pain management patient due to a spine injury for several years and have always found the journal well worth the time it takes to make entries in it. Good luck
And yes a neurologist can give you any pain medication they feel will be effective
