My Doctor wont perscribe fiorinal.....Why???
Im so frustrated! My Doctor perscribed fiorinal without codeine for my migrains, and now all of a sudden she doesnt want to anymore. She said its a (narcotic). I've looked it up and it says its not a narcotic. Im getting so annoyed with dr's not wanting to help someone in pain. Im going to call a pain clinic tomorrow, maybe they wont be so uptight about giving medicine.

Thanks

Kim

Kim sorry to burst your bubble here, but if your doctor said its not best for you, theres little you can do to argue.

You are right I also read somewhere that it isn't a narcotic, but I'm not your doctor and I sure don't know whats best for you.
Try speaking to her about your discovery, and if she really believes what she's doing is correct.
No one here can really help explain why your doctor didn't prescribe it.

Good luck.

Yes, fiorinal is not a narcotic, it's main component is aspirin, barbiturate butalbital and caffeine. Some formulations also contain the opioid codeine. I think the biggest concern with this drug is that it is not FDA-approved to treat migraines (although the drug is indicated for that case). The use of analgesics containing Butalbital is controversial to say the least. Some experts warn that butalbital is particularly likely to lead to rebound (analgesic overuse) headache and/or dependence and question whether their benefit outweighs these problems.
