I have anxiety problems and anti depressants and beta blockers don't work for me.Does anyone out there use
diazepam on an as and when needed basis because that is the only thing that gives me relief from it when it is acute.I can have quite long time spans when I don't take it.

Everything affects your mood. Eat healthy. Sleep enough. Exercise to release energy physically. Take Vitamin B stress complex and Omega 3-6-9 tablets that nature made sells. It all really helped me. And if you still feel the way you do, which I doubt you will as much, then try Lexipro if you haven't, it works to relieve anxiety and depression.

It took me five different antidepressants before I found one that worked and had tolerable side effects. I recommend you keep trying them until you find one that works. There are several classes of antidepressants with two or more drugs in each class. There are also medications that are referred to as "Augmenter drugs" which are taken in combination with some antidepressants. You might also want to consider St. John's Wort which is a non prescription dietary supplement in most countries. Effexor (Venlafaxine) works for me and has done so since 1995.

Also, exercise is one of the most effective things a person can do to combat depression.
