Hard Hearted Hannah is on a distinguished road
I switched my birth control and am using atenolol, now my period is messed up.
I've been on birth control since I was 14, (poly cystic ovarian syndrome) and I changed my birth control about 6 months ago. My periods usually last about 2-3 days, but in January when I started taking atenolol for my high blood pressure my periods have been nearly nonexistent.
I'll have the normal cramps, moodiness, cravings, and bloating for that week, and only spot just a little, I've taken about 6 pregnancy tests and they all turned out negative, I asked my doctor two months ago and he said that I probably wasn't pregnant, that it would take a minute to get used to the birth control.
Does anyone know if this combination of pills could do this, or what it might possibly be.
I'm pretty darned sure I'm not pregnant.

I haven't read of anything which says atenolol (or any beta blocker) can cause menstrual irregularities. Most probably the menstrual problem is related to PCOS. As fot the cravings part, there is such a thing as PCOS-related cravings wherein some women with polycystic ovary syndrome have an unbalanced hunger mechanism that causes them to eat too much food.
