Is it safe to take percocet with atenolol
i have been taking atenolol 50 mg daily for the past 4 years, i recently had some oral surgery and i didnt mention to my doctor that i take it, and he prescribed me vicodin and percocets. i already KNOW i can take vicodin, i have before, but will it be safe to take the 10mg percocets too?
atenolol is a beta blocker, it slows down your heart for people with irregular heart beats, or an overactive heart, such as me.

i was prescribed hydrocodon 7.5/750 and i took all of them as prescribed with no problems, so im assuming that OXY would be little to no difference than hydro...

Vicoden is hydrocodone, and percocet is oxycodone,
5 mg oxycodone is equivalent to 7.5 mg hydrocodone. So yes they are different in the sense that you would be taking a stronger pain med.
Oxycodone is generally considered to be more potent than hydrocodone (although some people may find hydrocodone to work better, due to individual differences in how people react to medications). Oxycodone is available as single-ingredient medications or in combination with other active ingredients, while hydrocodone only comes in combination products.

All hydrocodone medications are Schedule III controlled substances, while oxycodone medications are all Schedule II controlled substances. This suggests that oxycodone medications have a higher abuse potential, compared with hydrocodone. It also means that the prescribing rules are different. For instance, prescriptions for hydrocodone combination medications can be phoned or faxed to a pharmacy and may have refills, while oxycodone prescriptions must be given to a pharmacy in the original "hard copy" and cannot have refills. This also means that healthcare providers are usually more hesitant to prescribe oxycodone, compared with hydrocodone.

Oxycodone (an ingredient of Percocet) may exhibit hypotensive effect especially during the start of the treatment and change of dose. This effect will add to the existing hypotensive (blood pressure-lowering) action of the atenolol, thus you may experience dizziness, lightheadedness, syncope, orthostasis, or tachycardia -- associated with low blood pressure. Have your BP monitored regularly if you still stick to taking both medications. Avoid rising abruptly from a sitting or recumbent position.

It should be fine but you should check w/ your doctor or pharmacist. I am sure you can call your Pharmacy before closing today and ask a Pharmacist.
Percocet is almost the same thing as Vicodin, just different straights of the medicines in it. So that is why I am not totally sure.
Call the Pharmacist and they will let you know all the answers you need on medicines.

they are the same exact thing... vicodin is a mixture of hydrocodone and tylenol... percocet is the same mixture just less tylenol...
