Hi, It says take this Blood pressure medication with food, but I always take it on an empty stomach..will it still work in it's full capacity on an empty stomach? Also, will the pill work after I drink Red Wine? I am also taking Nexium, a 1mg Xanax pill once a day..do these meds conflict with anything..will they still work? sorry for all the questions.
There are some recommendations to take metoprolol on an empty stomach which will avoid unwanted changes in the level of this medicine in your blood.
It is recommended to avoid any form of alcoholic beverage while on metoprolol since it increases dizziness and drowsiness with the drug. It will still work though.
Caution is advised during coadministration of Xanax & metoprolol since doing so can increase the hypotensive effects of metoprolol. Avoid rising abruptly from a sitting or recumbent position and to notify your physician if you experience dizziness, lightheadedness, syncope, orthostasis, or tachycardia.
