Reducing Metoprolol?? HELP!
Hi! Can a CAD patient reduce the dose of metoprolol from 37.5 to 25mg if the blood pressure is 107/75, occasionally 92-99/70-80. Heart rate is in between 65-80. And if so, what are the experiences in teh first days ( as in if the heart rate goes up etc...) thanks

The answer to your question is probably, yes, you can reduce the dosage. That being said , the treatment for your condition has been tailored for your particular need. A systolic pressure below 100 is borderline low bp. Before changing your dose you should definitely check with your cardiologist. The blood pressure for CAD patients has been below 130/90, with a target pressure of 120/80 as the desired goal. This is the agreed on bp for any healthy person. If the doctor oks the change, you may not notice anything. Your doctor may want you to lower the dosage gradually if at all. Please do not try experimenting with a lower dose without his/her advice.

I hope you are not considering adjusting the dosage of your medications by yourself, without consulting your doctor. You are on that medication for a reason, right? CAD is a serious thing, and we're talking about your HEART here-- don't mess around with that when you have no idea what you are doing, and especially don't do it on the advice of some fool on Yahoo Answers. Talk to your doctor right now-- he can answer your question far better than anyone here.
