mrs good advice is on a distinguished road
anxiety or panick attack questions about anxiety medication and beta blockers
i have these random i wouldnt say panic attacks but random moments where its hard for me to get a full breath of air,and so i struggle and struggle to breathe easy its not like an asthma attack, its more like an anxiety attack, but if im feeling these random attacks and i take like a half of a low mg xanax i just to feel unnormal i dont really enjoy it the attacks of my breathing weird go away but then i get into this very uncomfrotable state and i start to feel lightheaded and everything is just weird. at first i thought i might be hyperventilating, so question is there a better way to help these random attacks, mind you its not like im in extremem pain or completely out of breath gasping for air its just an uncomfortable cycle of breathing, ive heard something about beta blockers. what are they. is xanax considered one. what do you suggest doing. i am seeing a therapist curretly aswell

see a psychiatrist....tell the Doctor about you symptoms..do u also feel a tingle sensation trou out your body or are you just to concetrated on you breathing that you feel like you out of breath? Work out and if you smoke stop and practice breathing technics to help acostom your bodie to take deeper breaths trou out the day....sorry but im am not professional but realizing this and doing the breathing has helped me...hope you Dis-ease is releaved soon....

I used to get bad panic attacks, they petrified me and pretty much took over everyday to the extent where I dreaded being alone and kept thinking something terrible medically was about to happen.
I therpist would help to talk about it, I came off the implant and found they went away so also look at your contraception, I know that sounds crazy but hormones could be to blame.
also if your a drinker that can also make them come on?
I don't know much about the prescripton drug route as I was always keen to try and avoid that one but another bit of advice would be to learn as much as you can about anxiety so you recognise the attacks for what they are and don't let them control you and your life.

Xanax is not a beta blocker--it is a benzodiazepine/anti-anxiety agent.

beta blockers are mostly used for heart trouble.
Google 'beta blockers' and you will find many web sites with information on them.
What does your therapist suggest that you do?

You need to see a few different Doctors. No one here on Yahoo Answers will be able to help you.
