An er physician prescribed me propanolol er 60 mgs today. MY EKG was negative, but did have palapations.
Several years ago my doctor prescribed Propanolol 20 mgs for Begnin PVC's.
Is this too high a dose? What side effects? Can I drink beer with this?
I am also on Klonopin .5 mgs for anxiety and panic attacks.
Dosage for irregular heartbeats are 10-30-mg 3-4X/day before meals & at bedtime. So it's not too high a dose.
It should not be stopped suddenly.
Side effects: Orthostatic hypotension;
Blurred Vision;
Abdominal Pain & Tenderness;
Bleeding;
Constipation or Diarrhea;
Headaches;
Cough;
Depression;
Trouble breathing;
Difficulty swallowing;
Swelling around eyelids, etc.
Swelling of face, lower legs, arms;
Swollen glands;
Decrease in urination;
etc.
I think that alcohol might cause dizziness & definitely dehydration. I would not drink till I spoke to my MD.
No, the dose seems consistent to treat what I understand of your problem. Be certain to report any untoward side effects or reactions to your physician. I assume he only gave you enough pills until you can get an appointment with your regular physician, and he can adjust the medication at that time.
