need help with beta blockers.. propanolol.... please help!!!
so i went to the doc, did a couple test, and they are still not done but anyway, i was feeling horrible for 2 weeks, pain in left arm, jaw, left leg, dizzy, light headed, spaced out... she says its an anxiety disorder, which i know i have high high anxiety... she gave me xanax, and a beta blocker called propanolol after my ekg returned a rapid heart rate... im going for an echocardiogram next week.... but i took the propanolol for the first time today, and i didnt get the pain in my arm or jaw except when i got really nervous during one part of the day, and even then the pain wasnt bad... does this mean that the fast heart beat was just from panicking and anxiety?
since i took it today and felt better, should i really worry about there being a heart problem with me???

The possible effect of beta blockers on the heart rate is the exact opposite of what you are experiencing. The fast heart rate/beat can be cause by stress or anxiety. It's a good thing that you're getting an ECG just to rule out any heart problems. But definitely your fast heart beat is not caused by the beta blocker.

Thanks for your answer. If it's not the beta blocker is causing my increased heart rate, then I should elliminate the stress that's causing it.
