taking salamol and propranolol at the same time
Ive been taking propranolol for anxiety 2 x 10mg three times a day for a few months. I have just been to see my doctor because Ive had difficulty breathing over the weekend and he has given me a salamol inhaler to use even though he doesn't think i have actually have asthma.

I just read that you shouldnt take these two medicenes together. I have used the inhaler about half an hour ago but i cant remember wether i have taken an proparanol today.

What should i do? What will happen if i do take them together?

According to MIMS (a drug reference guide), some beta blockers antagonize the effect of salbutamol (the generic drug of Salamol).

This combination should generally be avoided. If no alternative exists, small doses of a B-1 selective beta-blocker (e.g., acebutolol, atenolol, betaxolol, bisoprolol, or metoprolol) may be preferable; however, extreme caution is advised and patients' respiratory status should be closely monitored.

If your doctor doesn't think that you have asthma, did he tell you for what particular condition are you taking the Salamol? If the difficulty breathing episode can be manage by other means, then you shouldn't be given Salbutamol right away. It would also be helpful if you tell your doctor about the medications you are taking.
