What kind of side effects can I expect from a cortisone injection
Having injections into both hip joints on Monday to try and reduce pain/inflammation due to femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) and labral tears while I wait for the public health system to squeeze me in for MRIs (in 4 weeks) and a CT scan (just over 2 months!). Any help on what side effects from the cortisone to expect?

The thing you will most likely notice is tenderness and mild pain around the injection site.

Cortisone is a catabolic , it decrease protein and calcium absorption so prolonged and continuous use of it may leads to Osteoporosis . it also decrease potassium reabsorption from the kidney , but it increase sodium reabsorption .... SO to avoid all of that U have to :
have ( diet rich in potassium & calcium & protein and poor in sodium) .
and don't stop cortisone suddenly but gradually to avoid adrenal suppression .

I have had cortisone injections many times in both my knees and shoulder. Sometimes but only sometimes I have felt a bit achey all over the next day. It does take a few days to work but they did help a lot.
Good luck, don't worry, they wouldn't give them to you if they were not safe. too many doom merchants on here.!

i had cortisone injections before! and my face was so swollen i think it was due to the salt! when you take cortisone you must limit your salt intake!

Cortisone can temporarily suppress your immune system.
