i'm coming onto my 34th week and i was given my first dose last night and i have one more dose tonight... does the shot have any bad side effects for the baby?
THANK YOU, good to hear!
There are no adequate and well-controlled studies about Celestone in pregnant women. But it was found to be teratogenic in mice at human dose. Corticosteroids should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus. Infants born to mothers who have received corticosteroids during pregnancy should be carefully observed for signs of hypoadrenalism.
I'd like to believe that your doctor carefully considered the risks vs benefits of the drug prior to prescribing it to you.
