The advantage is that prednisone is an extremely useful medication for innumerable indications, so if the physician deems it appropriate, it suggest's that this will benefit his/her patient. Alternate day dosing has been regarded as a prefered method of administration for certain indications, but this is best left to the discretion of the prescribing physcian.
