Can I give my 5 yo daughter prednisolone and benedryl at the same time?

She has an allergic rash on her face and arms. Prednisolone is prescribed. I'm pretty sure they work on 2 different kinds of inflammatory processes but I'm not sure.

Hi Becki. I'm just curious, why do you want another antihistamine other than the one prescribed? I know prednisolone can be quite hard to administer on kids however, if you would give Benadryl at the same time, I think you might do more harm. If you're not happy with the effect of Prenisolone then talk to your doctor for an alternative. Besides, Benadryl (diphenhydramine) isn't really for maintenance or long-term use. It's good if you want fast reaction for allergic reversal.
