It sounds like you put too much. It's better to use a cream and you don't need to apply too much. I gather the dermatologist told you how to use it. And go ahead and remove it. It already did its job overnight.

I'm wondering where you put the ointment......? Triamcinolone is a topical steroid that should be applied as directed in a very thin layer on the skin. Usually it is used for dermatological conditions (conditions of the skin) one to three times a day, a very small amount at a time. If you can still see the ointment after applying, you have probably used too much. You should contact your doctor if you have further questions, as taking too much of any steroid can cause unpleasant side effects.

Well "Nick D" is probably no longer wondering, and lolablue might not even see this, but just to clarify things a bit: Yes, there is (or was) such a thing as "Kenalog Oral Paste" which was 0.1% triamcinolone acetonide. Made by Bristol Myers Squibb. It's currently listed for sale priced at $24 for three 5g tubes (but marked as discontinued).

It may interest you to know that triamcinolone acetonide is also available as an inhaler, for asthmatics, and it's called "Azmacort". I once had run out of the topical cream, and began using my surplus Azmacort by just spraying it directly on the skin--worked great, and didn't get all gummed up in my arm hair like the cream used to.
