Can Dexamethasone cause a diabetics sugar levels to rise?

my father is taking dexamethasone and when he checks his glucose levels they have been high. Can this medication cause this side effect.

It is possible since it is shown that glucose intolerance is worsened & blood sugar levels are increased in patients with preexisting diabetes. Even those with latent or "inactive" diabetes manifest when they take dexamethasone. Please inform the prescribing physician.
