Metformin is the usual medication for people who have elevated blood glucose and have PCOS, as well as for type 2 diabetes. The reason for giving this to people with PCOS is that this condition is found to be due to an increase in testosterone in the blood, due to the increase in insulin which is a reaction to the elevated blood glucose. Metformin acts on the cells to absorb blood glucose, thus lowering down insulin, together with testosterone, therefore treating the PCOS.
There are varied reactions with Metformin. But so far, it proves to be the better one in the market. Some give other medications to complement this, especially if you are trying to conceive.
Hope this helps.
