PCOS is often related to being overweight although there are also women who are within their normal weight range and yet have PCOS. Metformin is actually a anti-diabetic medication that helps treat PCOS indirectly by decreasing the levels of insulin in the blood to also lower down the testosterone levels in the body that can be causing the PCOS.
It is possible to lose weight and lower not reverse the effects of PCOS although it is quite hard to do because of the imbalance of hormones in the body. It takes a strong will and a lot of effort to do so but not impossible.
You may want to try and lose weight and see if it has any effect on your PCOS. If not, then you can begin taking the Metformin just to help. At least, you are already at a desired weight and the work of the Metformin is not hindered by other factors such as obesity.
Hope this helps.
