any side affects with metformin
ive been taking metformin 850mgs for 4 days now ( i have poly cystic ovaries) and they have made me feel so rough, sorry if tmi but ive had sickness, cramping, dizziness the thing is i mentioned to my doctor that i thought i might have ovulated last month and may have even conceived he told me that wasn't likely and told me to start taking metformin he didn't even do a test now im worried that i might have been and have harmed or even killed the fetus by taking the metformin, i know im being stupid and its probably just a side affect but i can stop thinking i might have been! has anyone else taken metformin?

Awww Don't worry, I can promise you it's very unlikely that you harmed or killed a fetus by taking metformin...

Cramping, sickness and diarrhea are all normal side effects of taking Metformin, it will settle down after a while...
I found the side effects hard (full-time job and diarrhea don't go together!) so I took a reduced dose of metformin (think it was 500mg) daily for a couple of weeks so my body could get used to the side effects, I then increased to 2x 500mg, then 2X 850mg.... It really helped to increase it gradually.

hey!
all the symptoms you are having is normal. mine didnt stop til after a month and a half of taking.
which is actually when i conceived.
the metformin will not harm the baby at all. it helps the fetus develop. so the med is actually helpful in the first part of pregnancy. as my doctor said i will continue taking this thru my whole pregnancy!
taking new meds is always very stressful because you dont know what you are getting yourself into, or what to expect! good luck!!
im a firm believer in metformin!!
