I have pcos and im taking metformin to conceive, has anyone had any success with this drug

I am overweight and think it may have something to do with my PCOS as my periods stopped when I was 18. At 18 I started piling on the weight, I have gained 5 stone in 6 years.
Because I am not ovulating I cant fall pregnant. I also struggle to lose weight.
My doctor advised that metformin may helpme lose weight and conceive.
Has anyone been given this drug for simlar cases?

I am also ttc. I take metmorfin & I ovulate. If ur doctor suggested u take metforfin then they would check whether u r ovulating or not. jus ask doc or check with ovulation monitor. & my doc said metmorfin helps reduce weight with help of light exercise.

I was in the exact same boat as you. I was also prescribed Metformin for PCOS but I had no insulin problems. Please look into it more before you start and seek another opinion. I did, and the doc was horrified that they had tried to put me on it. It is not approved by the FDA for PCOS, it's a diabetes med. It's not going to do anything for you if your blood sugar levels are fine except make you sick. Google the side effects, they're pretty nasty. Metformin can be super helpful in treating PCOS patients but only if they have insulin problems. Just make sure sure you do your research!
