Hi
I've taken Met for a year previously for PCOS symptoms, had a break, now back on it as TTC.
I take 1500 a day, but heard 2000 is ok. Did your doc tell you to gradually build up dosage ?, they do this to minimise the initial side effects.
With regard to your questions, Met is used to treat insulin resistance that most PCOS ladies have. It can cause some drops in sugar levels, however my advice is to eat healthy and snack healthy regular and try to recognise when possible drops are occurring, carry a banana if you haven't eaten in a while.
It can help weight loss, but only if your watching diet and its not sudden.
It does regulate periods, but not in everyone.
This is a great drug for TTC and a lot of women get pregnant on this alone as it triggers ovulation, again this doesn't happen in everyone and some have to take clomid too.
Going to the loo often is normal when you start taking it, but the dose should be built up gradually to minimise. Not sure about taking meds, maybe ask pharmacist. Also avoid too much sugar and fats, this causes upsets, I find I can't drink alcohol at all whilst taking it.
As said above a lot of women will start ovulating, can take varying time scales for this, definitely keep testing charting etc.
You should liaise with your doc about continuation upon pregnancy, however i've heard many say you should continue as it reduces chances of miscarriage and gestational diabetes and theres no scientific evidence that it harms baby.
All the best, feel free to contact me if I can help anymore x
