Metformin and bleeding
Hi guys, I started taking metformin on the 11th June, almost a month ago. I take 500mg twice a day, the reason being i was told i had Pcos, not very bad but i have it, also not having any regular periods just spotting here and there. Also ttc! But due to not ovulating i was given Metformin.
Anyway, been taking 2 a day for the past month and i have been bleeding every single day, sometimes it can be heavier then some days, but its still there everyday. Im starting to get sick of it, also costing me a fortune on tampax! lol

Could anyone let me know if they have had similar experiences, i do have telephone appointment booked with my doctor tomorrow.

Thanks

bleeding everyday may not be normal. It's good that you have your doctor's appointment set. Metformin can help in ovulation since it regulates the hormones responsible for ovulation. However, if the bleeding is not stopping, then its either your hormones are trying to stabilize themselves or there is another cause for it.

Hope this helps.

I am having the same problem.I have been trying to get pregnant and havent had any luck.At first i was taking the pill so i wouldnt get pregnant and was getting reg. periods. Then when i stop taking the pill i was getting irregular periods and was put on metformin. But ever since i started taking that i bleed every day.Its not a thing where i get my period every month.I seriously bleed every day. This is embarassing but theres times when im not bleeding and i have intercourse with my husband and all of a sudden im bleeding again.I called the doc and i told her that i stop taking the medication and i have an appointment to get an ultrasound done. But i think it really is the medication.I get really depressed because of this always happening to me.Write me back if u already went to see a doc. and let me know what they told u.In order to see My obgyn doc it takes a month or 3 cuz shes really busy.Get back to me plz. Thanks
