GRAPHIC\PCOS\Period\Metformin\NuvaRing\GRAPHIC
Ok, I have PCOS. Haven't had a period in 3 years, but I'm trying to have a baby. Went to the doc, and he put me on Metformin. 2 500mg tablets a day. He also put in a Nuva Ring, type of birth control, to try to get me to have a period to clean the lining of my uterus and all that.. WELL, I got my period on July 3, and I still got it. I will be 23 in November, and since the 7th grade I would say this is probably my 8th period.. I'm not very familiar with them, yadda yadda.. pretty embarrassing.. I know that they can typically last up to 10 days.. regular is 5-7.. It's still REALLY bad though.. I'm worried that it is gonna last a lot longer.. I'm going on vacation with my husband on July 16, and I'm worried that it's gonna stop in a few days, and start right back up. A friend of mine hadn't had a period in years and her doc gave her a hormone shot.. she said that after that she got her period for a week, it quit for only 5 days, and started back for another week. I just wanna know what to expect. I really don't wanna be on it during vacation!!
I forgot to add that I pulled out my tampon on day 2, and my Nuva Ring came out with it, and I was not about to put it back in so I threw it away. I don't know if this will make me bleed longer or not

Hmm, Nuva Ring is actually a hormone based contraceptive that can help you have your period. If you only used it for 2 days, I wonder if it has had any effect on your body to cause menses. However, since you got your period, I would expect it to last a bit longer than usual, which is actually 2-5 days.

If your period doesn't stop for several weeks, or if you feel any discomfort, go back to your doctor to check on the cause of the bleeding.

Hope this helps.
