Morris A is on a distinguished road
anyone taking metformin for pcos (posted again hoping for more answers!!!)
I was diagnosed with PCOS 10 years ago and doctors and obgyns alike have all told me there is nothing that can be done. I found on the internet that an endocrinologist can treat it. My condition has worsened over the years. My hair is falling out like crazy! My blood pressure is up and i have packed on weight over the last couple of years. I see a period about every 6 months IF that. I'm bloated all the time and just feel helpless. The endo put me on metformin er 2000mg/day. I was wondering if this medicine alone will help with the hair loss. I'm 25 yrs old and am terrified of being bald!! If you have taken it, how long did it take to see a real period?? Did it help with hair loss? Did it help with weight loss? If it didn't help with the hair loss have you found anything that did???

First, there's no need to re-post your question if you didn't get much replies. The second post will just get deleted for double posting. You can just reply to your old post and it will be placed under "new post" again.

Regarding your question, there were quite a number of inquiries on metformin in the past posts. A member posted a similar question and she already visited an endocrinologist too. Worked for her ovulation problems but no mentioning of hair loss with metformin use.

Hair loss cannot be attributed to metformin but it's an effect of PCOS itself. Metformin does not directly affect the levels of androgens (the hormone which can cause hairloss in women with PCOS) in a woman’s body, thus it won't help you in that particular problem.
