My RE put me on Metformin and 4mg of Folic accid after i miscarried my first baby in May. Found out on June 10th that i am pregnant again. RE says the metformin helped me to ovulate and i could stop taking it and start on Prometruim suppositories continue with the folic acid and prenatals. Ive already had an ultra sound and saw and heard the baby's heartbeat. RE wants me back for a repeat ultra sound this week because last pregancy i heard the heartbeat and a week later and baby's heart wasn't beating anymore. i had no signs of the loss. Do you think the prometrium will help me not to miscarry this time? I also read that women take metformin through the 1st trimester, is this going to affect me that i stopped it at 7 weeks? im a nervous wreck!!!
Prometrium may help you prevent a miscarriage this time but you have to follow your doctor's orders. There are appropriate dosing schedules followed for Prometrium, depending on the condition it is taken for. Prometrium can help prep your uterine lining for the implantation of the fertilized egg. Keep in mind, though, it's regrettably not a miracle cure.
