Jamie Z is on a distinguished road
would metformin inhibit glucosamine absorption or negate its effect as metformin slows absorption of glucose
I am a diabetic and also have arthritis for which i take metformin and glucosamine respectivelly. And since metformin works by slowing down or preventing the absorption of glucose in the intestine, would it render the glucosamine useless or reduce its effectiveness.

Actually, metformin helps in taking up sugar through insulin sensitivity, thus lowering its values in the blood stream. There is no actual relationship or effect between glucosamine and metformin of any significance, so don't worry about losing its effectiveness.

Hope this helps.
