I have cyst in ovaries, doc has prescribed me Provera, Clomid and Estradiol, but why not Metformin
My case history isn't any different from others. But I have heard Metformin and Clomid as the best combos to get prego with. Should I ask my Doc?

My second question is.. why they ask to have sex on every OTHER day during ovulation? Why not a guy eats healthy and do it everyday in order to enhance the chances to conceive?

No matter what he eats, his body still needs time to replenish.

Different Dr.'s use different methods, and while the Metformin may work for some, it doesn't work for all. There are plenty of women with PCOS who don't respond at all to Metformin, so your doctor may just be starting with a method he/she's been successful with.

Good luck to you and stay positive!

Metformin is only one drug that would help with cysts, but the adverse side effects may be something your doctor does not want you to deal with. Metformin is mainly used with diabetic patients. As with all doctors, you should not leave his office without asking questions. It is your body, and you have the right to know why he isn't prescribing the drug.

1st one I have no idea. Second one because the quality of sperm improves the longer he goes without ejaculation. If you go at it every day, he testes are producing very sub-par sperm.

You know, I know this won't help you, but I'm just going to tell you my story. I have poly-cystic ovarian syndrome and I'm insulin resistant. They gave me the metformin for the insulin resistance and were HOPING that would be enough to conceive. It wasn't. They then made me take it THREE times a day, still not enough. I was then taking metformin three times a day and one month of clomid, just one pill a day. I STILL didn't ovulate. The 2nd month, I took two clomid a day along with the metformin and we finally conceived.

So long story short, are you insulin-resistant or pre-diabetic? If not, maybe that is the reason they aren't giving you the metformin.

As far as sex everyday, we did the every other day thing. Our doctor told us that having it everyday does not increase your chance...which makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever, but what do I know? We did get pregnant doing it every other day. I don't necessarily think it hurts to have it everyday, but every other day is sufficient.

I know I really didn't come out and answer your questions, but maybe something in all of my rambling helped a bit. Good luck. We know the frustration of not being able to conceive when you want to, and sometimes it's a long road. Good luck and I will keep you in my prayers.

Did you ask the Doc that question, Most Docs will take calls and have their in house covering nurse ask him for you and have her call you back with an answer.

I'm not sure why you would be prescribed metformin for infertility, unless you are diabetic as well as that is usually what it is used for.
