Has anyone become pregnant using metformin alone?

Clomid makes me absolutely crazy so I am trying metformin without it and wanted to hear some success stories from women who used metformin alone. Thanks!

I am currently taking Metformin as well. I am assuming that you have PCOS like me. My understanding from talking to my doctor is that with some people with PCOS you need to get the PCOS under control with the Metformin and try that for a while before you use Clomid. Apparently some PCOS patients do not respond well to Clomid at first. As far as how long you should try Metformin alone, I have talked to several doctors and heard different things. If you are young (in your twentys), then one doctor told me 12-18 months and another said 6-8. If you are in your mid thirtys then you should probably start Clomid after 3 months of Metformin. It might also help to increase your Metformin dosage. I started at 500 mg and I am now at 1000 mg a day. In Jan. I will move up to 1500 mg if I have not conceived. Without knowing a little more detail, it is hard to tell you the best thing for you.

I've just started taking met last Tuesday, and i haven't seen any signs of ovulation yet! I read up on met...and you will sure to get pregnant on met alone! Good luck!!!

I'm a man so I really never thought about your question. When I was first diagnosed with diabetes, I took metformin. I suppose it did what it was supposed to do, but it caused me a lot of stomach issues. At the time I was taking insulin and metformin. Now I'm just taking insulin alone, although two kinds.
