while each inch of hair gives about 90 days of info, i dont think they test for tramadol during pre-employment. i could be wrong though.

Tramadol is a synthetic opiate and is sometimes prescribed for dental work...but being that you took it 2 months ago...I don't think it will be an issue. They are more concerned about schedule 1 or 2 substances anyway if I'm not mistaken and Tramadol is way low on the todem pole

Use the search function on top of the page and type in "drug testing". There are a few members who posted pretty much what to expect during these kinds of tests. Those threads should give you peace of mind... you have got nuthin to worry about.

  6. ok thanks im so confused about this hair testing, i didnt know if it would find every single thing thats been in my system for years or what not

A hair test. That is insane. Maybe next employers will request blood tests. This topic makes me mad; here's a nice person like @joejoe who has to worry about a 1 pill that was already in the house that she took for tooth pain.

If they do find it joejoe which they won't, look confused like you don't remember and them tell'em the truth.

    Stinkers.

We could eliminate random drug testing completely. Simply INSIST that if the public must undergo them then politicians MUST undergo mandatory random drug tests. Watch how fast they ban random drug tests.

The company would need to test specifically for tramadol and most are using a ten panel test that includes mainly street drug detection and opiods. You have absolutely nothing to worry about.

If any potential employer asks me to take a hair test I'm going to tell them to go f$%# themselves because the only hair they're getting from me is if they take it by force. Find somewhere else to work. Hair tests are expensive---there can't be that many places using hair tests. A violation of human rights if you ask me. Who the hell cares what you did three months ago? Took one freakin tramadol? Oh I'd be so pissed if that showed up and they actually cared about it. Find a way to fire-bomb their stinking office if I could.

Really stupid question, but I have thought of asking this every time I read about hair tests. What do they do if you are naturally bald? Take armpit or leg hair, or other?

    Just sort of wondered.

@joejoe For what kind of job?!? School bus driver or day care provider I can understand. In those cases a hair test might be appropriate but I really am curious what kind of employment it is. I understand it's a personal question and no need to respond.

I think you should be fine, i'm pretty sure that they are only looking for illegal drugs, and even if tramadol is an opiate, it wont show up as morphine on a drug screen (which is what herion shows up as) I dont think you have anything to worry about. Is tramadol even a controlled substance?

According to wikipedia.com, "Tramadol is not currently scheduled by the U.S. DEA, unlike opioid analgesics. It is, however, scheduled in certain states."

Also according to wikipedia, "Most commercial opiate immunoassay screening tests do not cross-react significantly with tramadol or its major metabolites, so chromatographic techniques must be used to detect and quantitate these substances." In short, what that means is that a uranalysist (is that even a word? lol, it is now..) would have to test ESPECIALLY for tramadol to find it. I highly doubt there is any common drug test that screens for tramadol, being so weak an opioid. They have to test specially for Suboxone, too, and that's why it doesn't show up on most drug tests either. I think you're safe, OP.

  18. I was told today by a nurse that handles drug testing that Tramadol does NOT show on a urine screen so if it doesn't show on a UA I seriously doubt it will show as in the hair test. I aree with the others that they would have to test specifically for it's components.

  19. just so everyone knows it did not show up so i hope this helps with questions later on

How much tramadol had you taken? I took some on and off for about a month(November) I just got a hair follicle test a few days ago and I'm worried it may show.
