On a hair folicle drug test what will Adderall and Phentermine show up as?

Will they show up as an amphetamine or as a methamphetamine? Is there anyway that Phentermine could cause a 'positive' for the same substance that Adderall causes a positive for?

I knew I should have taken organic chemsitry . . . Anyways . . . Obviously, phentermine is an amphetamine as is Adderall (comprised of four amphetamine salts), but I still don't know if they'd show up as 'amphetamine' or 'methamphetamine' on a drug test, as I don't know much about the body's metabolization of these drugs.

Here are the IUPAC names for the drugs, if they're of any help:

Phentermine = 2-methyl-1-phenylpropan-2-amine and 2-methyl-amphetamine

Adderall = 1-phenylpropan-2-amine

If I was not prescibed Adderall, but I was prescribed phentermine . . .

Adderall will show up as dextroamphetamine in a hair follicle drug test while phentermine shows up as methamphetamine. Both are derivatives of amphetamines which has the probability of giving a false positive result. In any case, if you are going to have a drug test, inform them first of your taking prescription drugs so they will be forewarned about any positive results that you might have.

I am aware of the fact that Adderall will cause a positve result for amphetamines from urinalysis. It was my understanding that GC/MS testing could be used to confirm that the drug positive was for amphetamines and not methamphetamines.

However, the GC/MS came back as positive for Methamphetamines. Do you know if Adderall could produce a false positive for methaphetamine?????

There is a big possibility for adderall to produce a false positive result for methamphetamine since they both contain amphetamines.

Phentermine is basically SPEED.
Methylamphetamine
So yes, it would test positive (+) for Amphetamine
