Hmmm not sure. They seem to be pretty lax with certain laws over there so maybe. I know different Codeine products are sold over the counter but unsure about benzos.

I was in Italy 6 months ago and Valiums are a non starter. But there are many of the clubs that sell pretty much any thing you want. And if all else fails ask a cab driver were you can get a script for some Valimn. As far as Codiene they have all that 15 mg stuff

Been there often over the years and, not only is it unavailable OTC, Italian law enforcement is very serious about possesion of any drug without a valid prescription.
I would stay the hell away from shady cab drivers and pills sold at "clubs."

I lived in Italy for a year (luckily I didn't need pain meds at the time), and they are real bastards about pain medication. You can NOT buy codeine over the counter (like in the U.K.), and doctors pretty much never prescribe it to patients, even those in need. They won't even give it to women giving birth. If you like pain meds, don't go to Italy! Or make sure you have a full script to take with you when you go!!!

Wowza what do people in pain even get prescribed in italy than?, seems very, very regressive. I will take note.

Yes, is pretty regressive, in my opinion too. Their whole philosophy on pharmaceuticals is different there. They don't even really prescribe xanax or any of the anti-anxiety meds, or any kind of anti-depressants. They believe that people don't need them; that it is excessive and unnecessary for people to take them. To be fair, I found Italy such a wonderful place that I WAS NATURALLY happier there than I am here...but still, some people just psychologically and medically require certain drugs, and the attitude that nobody does is to me pretty backward. Then again, they don't have the problem of so many people being addicted to PKs that we have here! And in some ways, the attitude that there should be a pill for everything that we have here in the U.S. *IS* flawed.
