Has Anyone Tried Kratom?

I have used Kratom on and off for about 8 years. Very beneficial for energy and some pain relief, and does very good with w/d. Tastes very bad and I suggest you put it in a gel cap. Will not make you sick and you can take a cap or two until you see how it will work for you. You can control your dose easier in caps.

yeah dont take what u think is right i took like half of what was in my bag because i didnt know but i got sick from it, its smart to jus take it in small doses til u get where u wanna be, no sense in going hard an puking it up an wasting a whole gram

I tried Kratom a couple of years ago. I took the smallest recommended dose for a first timer, and I got sick as hell and was throwing up for hours. Opiates and opiate type drugs don't do anything for me in general. I usually get no to minimal pain relief (even with oxys) and itch like a dog with fleas. It's frustrating that I can't find a good pain reliever when I need one. Tramadol just makes my head spin and I get nauseous. It's probably a good thing because I have an addictive personality.

Yes, Ive got some online and it helps with pain. Tastes like crap and can get expensive. They also mailed it right to my house overnight. Its not as good as oxy or roxy for the pain but it def. works!!

Yeah I used some a while ago, the taste can be off putting but it does work. The side effects can also be pretty harsh for some people though I was generally alright on that side of things.

I got alot of kratom at once it cost alot and i tried it for pain i tried it for sickness i did not see nothing good about it but its taste nasty some might like it maybe works for others but not for me cause if it would help my pain i really would have alot 5 of us tried it and nothing to me but money lost when it could have got something that really works sorry but the kratom can stay where its at away from me peace Insane Pain

No it doesn't show up and if it does, who cares b/c it's legal anyways. Also for me at least it did enhance appetite! If you need a link to a good supplier let me know, as far as the bad taste, just use capsules they work the same and i've had powder too, so I don't wanna hear it from you Kratom connoisseurs!

I picked a pack up here locally for $22. Was hoping it would help my withdrawal symptoms and it helped 100%! The only negative is the taste. It seemed best to mix it with very warm Gatorade (well, for me anyway).

@betsky, I have been thru series of tests,even after telling the doctor that Ive been on it,he or the testing lab could not pull it up.
I have a 'cast iron gut' and it still makes me gag.I should like to see you try this appetite enhancer, smells not too bad,but wham! it sticks in your throat and gaggggg your barfinng.
It is not too awfully expensive 20 bucks and your good to go.

About halfway back (around August??) on this thread I and another member posted some "toss and wash" methods of ingesting powdered Kratom where you don't have to taste it. Also mentioned was getting a "Cap 'M Quick" machine (20.00) to cap your own.

I use a modified version of @arizona's method. It's similar but with a few variations that might interest some here.

And here is my method, tried and true...


1. I use a metal 1 tsp measuring spoon, dip the spoon into my Kratom supply (powdered Bali from Four Winds...superb quality and customer service). I scrape a flat edge butter knife across the top of the measuring spoon so it's perfectly flat. This way no loose kratom gets into my mouth later. It sort of becomes like a powered half melon ball, if that makes sense.

2. I have a glass of water ready. I take a drink to wet my mouth. I then take a second, smaller drink and hold the water UNDER my tongue and up against the back of my bottom teeth. There is a natural little cup there.

3. I tilt my head back slightly and carefully drop the measuring spoon of kratom into the little pocket of water. I don't swish or swallow yet. Now the kratom is sort of floating on the water and because it's under my tongue I don't taste a thing.

4. I take another large swig of water and swallow the thing whole. This method washes the vile tasting powder straight back and down my throat. I never taste a thing as the kratom never comes into contact with my tongue.

I tried teas, swishing, using all kinds of liquids to mask the taste and nothing worked until I read about this method on a now defunct kratom forum. I do have a capping gizmo for when I want to take it on the road but at home this is the method that works best for me. I take two tsp in the am and then have a couple cups of coffee. Sets me right up.

Yes I have extensive experience with kratom. It is indeed a very powerful drug, it can be just as addictive as other conventional opiates in my opinion and withdrawals can be very harsh. It is an AMAZING substance to have available as it can pretty much obliterate withdrawals from conventional opiates, but make no mistake, it will only prolong or rather push back the inevitable withdrawal, basically because it works on the same receptors as opiates (delta opioid receptors). I use the "toss and wash" method of ingestion. You basically take a spoon full of the powdered leaf material (or far less if it is an extract) put it on your tongue, pour some water in your mouth ontop of the powder, swish the dry leaf powder and water around your mouth until it is emulsified thoroughly, then swallow the mixture. It only takes less than a minute, and works well if you can handle the taste (its not that bad). Highly recommend. I keep it on hand just in case my pain prescription runs out, also I can switch to kratom for a week to drive my tolerance back down. -Dingle

If you are considering using Kratom, or even if you have and had a bad experience, then take @Rescue3000's advice and let him give you some guidance. I've never met the skipper but his bio shows that he has some hard-earned experience and respect, and is not likely to BS you. Kratom has spared me a lot of misery. Use it properly and you can manage withdrawal/detox from stronger stuff - I was so amazed and relieved when I detoxed this way! It is also an excellent pain reliever in its own right and can be difficult to withdrawal from if overused just like any opiate as @dingleberry says.

I am familiar with the vendor you mentioned skipper and they have been good to me. The link embedded in your post didn't get me to the sight but, for those interested, typing it directly into the navigation bar will get you there.

The only advice I can give is to find a good online vendor or two - skipper already got you started - and stick with them. I don't recommend using head shops to buy kratom. but that is just my one opinion out of many here. The main reason -for me - is the possibility of contamination or adulteration with research chemicals and the like. Good online vendors really take their kratom seriously and you can get the best, freshest kratom online.

I usually mix it with very warm to hot water which helps mask the taste and just gulp it down. It was difficult at first but I got used to it.

Just an FYI -

There are shops selling Kratom in capsule form. Usually the same shops that sell items like "spice" and "bath salts".

The advantage being that you can control intake with number of capsules ingested. And there is no bad taste to deal with. Price is the disadvantage. The capsules are super expensive compared to bulk.

My personal experience with Kratom is limited. But the few times I have taken it, it was very helpful.

But like dingleberry said, "you are only prolonging the inevitable". With that said, it might be easier to taper off Kratom than it is to taper off Oxy or hydro <insert opiod of choice here>.

So my local head shop finally got in some powdered kratom in capsules. I got the maeng da powdered caps.(Not cheap but i was on my way to Vegas needed something for the ride). First dose i took 3 caps. Got a very nice stimulation and mood boost and my nose got itchy(that's my first sign of my opiod receptors being stimulated for me,idk dont ask ive taken every opi know to man all do it to me)any ways i recommend this strain for any body who is looking to try kratom. Ive had other strains and not as potent as the maeng da powder. Tried the Premium Kratom strain yesterday but wasnt too happy as i felt nothing and i have not taken any PKs in 5 months so my tolerance should be down real low.

Like @Rescue3000 says, there is much misinformation flying around about Kratom so I thought I would drag some info to the front of the thread.
