I know it's horse for courses, but for me it was like consuming a highly poisonous substance. I was actually quite excited about the prospect of taking it at the time (yes, I know.....), but within six hours of taking my first dose everything turned very ugly indeed. Running (make that crawling) to the toilet and vomiting every hour was only the start of it. I couldn't eat anything without being sick. I couldn't stand up, or even move my head without getting incredibly disconcerting whirlies. I had profound shakes, sweats, and panic spikes that became totally unmanageable. In the back of mind I kept telling myself it would wear off as I became "used" to it. This proved to be wishful thinking after taking my second dose..... Also I was taking a relatively small dose (20mg per day). Goodness only knows what it would have been like if I'd been on a higher dose.
What you described is exactly what happens when one takes too much of an opiate. It has nothing to do with your body reacting badly to that drug, or the drug itself being bad, just that the dose was too high (not your fault if your doc prescribed that much).
I just thought I should mention this so that people don't read your post and think that methadone does this to people all the time. Every symptom you described (dizziness, vomiting) is exactly what happens when someone takes too much of any opiate.

Recreational use is not something we want to discuss on this board. It keeps the baddies off of us.

Methadone doesn't produce euphoria unless you took huge amounts. I've been on it for over a year and I feel nothing except the pain decreases dramatically while the medicine is working (10mgs). For people who have never taken Methadone and try to get high on it? They usually end up ODing on it. I've heard of people taking 100mgs or 150mgs and they say they can feel it, but that's a death sentence for someone who has never taken it. Don't play with meds that you don't know anything about. Bad things happen. Methadone builds up in your system and if you take 40mgs a day, by the third day you actually have more than that in your system. So although I take 40mgs a day, I probably have 55mgs or so in my system at any given time.

It's not a med to play with and is up there with Fentanyl as far as ODing goes. Have a rum & coke; it'll do you good! lol
