Male sex drive and opiates

I'm a male, my libido drops when I take opiate/opioid medications. This seems to be a well-known side effect. For me it results in difficulty maintaining erection, and orgasm being more difficult.

Have any of you had success with any medication/supplements to help remedy this problem? I've read that opiate use results in a drop in testosterone; is there anything I could consider for this (aside from buying testosterone itself)? Or has anyone used meds like Viagra with opiates?

Are there any opioids that affect libido to a lesser extent than others? I usually take codeine or dihydrocodeine, and have similar issues with both.

I personally could take oxy, hydro,codeine or Dihydrocodiene, whatever and be turned on...Big-Time. I noticed I last longer,but would be on the bottom...Ride,Sally Ride!!!

I completely agree with you dayton. While on OC's, I can maintain an erection and perform like a wild black stallion attached to a Viagra drip, but to actually spew my batter is almost impossible. Imagine two Military fire control officers sitting in a missile silo about to synchronize their key turning to fire a nuclear warhead, and one of them forgot their fire-control key. I pump so fast and hard my knees buckle, yet nothing happens.

My wife enjoys it, until she reaches perdition, dries up like the Sahara, and says enough already.

I'd say it's a double edged sword. When I can actually reach climax, my world looks like the scene from the movie Labyrinth when the big sister finally remembers the words "You have no power over me", and David Bowie's world shatters around him. Jagged crystals of ecstacy shoot through my body, but when I can't climax, it's pretty disappointing.

Viagra will get your gun working again mate but won't give you the killer instinct back you need to fire it. If your issue in hormonal there are a couple of options in regards to testosterone, patches, orals and injectable. Due to the regime that has pushed our country into the overegulated state it is sadly in you will find it hard to aquire any of the above here unless you have an understanding Dr.On the other hand there are some products available in australia that are very effective when it comes to sex drive and achieveing and maintaing an erection that would make tito Ortiz's wife blush. We cant discuss them here but do some research and you will find what your looking for. Start your search with injectable tanning products and see what you turn up. They do work. If you take any stock in the British Medical Journal, go to their website and find their study concerning "Prolonged Erections produced by dihydrocodeine and sildenafil."

The effects of opiates on sexual functioning are inconsistent and variable, but lowered testosterone concentrations, reduced sexual desire, erectile dysfunction, and delayed ejaculation have been frequently reported, particularly among chronic narcotic drug misusers. 3 4

The acute opiate intake in our patients on sildenafil produced abnormally high cyclic guanosine monophosphate concentrations in peripheral nerve endings, which resulted in prolonged erections even after orgasm.

I agree when taking opoids my libido completely drops as well not too mention back when I was taking oxycodone it was hard to orgasm. Also sometimes it was hard enough just to get an erection and I'm a young guy. Now that I'm on methadone my erection problem are no more but my libido is still very low.

Tramadol is the worst, took away all my sex drive. Real opiates not so much, but I hear where you're coming from or not.......

Yea and my girl had no idea for years that I was taking extremely high amounts of opoids and she was wondering why someone under 30 was having "plumbing problems. " I tjiml it was a combination of many things, our relationship, fighting etc. The opoids definitely played a big part though, like I said even now on methadone my sex drive sometimes is non existent. A few times I had to resort to taking viagra or cialis just to be able to perform. Everytime I would talk to doctor about it they would say its just in my head cuz of my young age. I also soma a heavy smoker, nit as much as before but anyway smoking inhibits blood flow as well so yea I've had many friends say the same thing when taking high amounts of opoids. @sambob

I was put on Cymbalta one time, an SNRI antidepressant that I used for muscle pain. I rode the wave for five hours before spunk spewing. She couldn't walk the next day, literally could not walk.

As for opiates, I only take IR meds. When I am directly on them, sexy time is a no go. But as for later that night, my unit is good to go.

I had a little problem with tramadol for about a month or two until it started making me sick to my stomach and caused major vomiting problems, then i decided i should stop lol, but as far as my sex drive with it my girl says it was some of the best sex we've ever had, she thought it was good that my cum was prolonged but because i had so much energy i was like in an x movie letting her orgasm multiple times hard....id like to give dhc a try now(:

Glad you guys brought this up cause i've been wondering......A normal opiate has always increased my desire and like someone said above, "made me a Stallion" in the sack. But Tramadol nearly eliminated my drive and it's nearly impossible to start/finish. Whats up?? It must be the AD properties that Tram has because the same exact thing happend when I was on AD's in the past
