    Default Hydro and rebound headaches

I have been on hydros for about a year now for knee and neck issues, and my dosage is about 40mg a day. In the past few weeks I have noticed that I seem to be getting rebound headaches (almost migraine-ish) that never used to be a problem. Is this typical? Does it mean I should have my rx switched to something else? The scalp tension and nauseousness is starting to annoy me!

Rebound headaches can occur with any PK, including ibuprofen. Definately talk to your doctor about switching meds and possibly alternating meds every few months.

I agree with Aven. It is very possible that your headaches are related to the hydro. You need to discuss this with your doctor and see if he/she can perhaps adjust the dosage to get better results. Either that or to change the rx. Living with headaches is not an easy way to live. I used to get them as well but now take Elival every night and they are gone. Was my "miracle" drug for my migraines. Good luck to you.

@dafeet , I used to get them too, but lowered my dosage just a smidge and they went away.

I get headaches 4 hours after I take my pills. I think it's because I need some more. If I wait long enough it goes away. That's just me and it might not happen to anyone else. It sort of makes sense because I never get headaches other than that. I'm always sick to my stomach but I attribute that to Nicorette gum and I don't eat very much. I hope you feel better and are able to figure it out.

40mg a day could definitely cause rebound headaches. I've heard that a lot of people alternate medications to prevent this. Or, they space their dosages out more and end up taking less.

I used to suffer from chronic migraines and to me, any kind of headache is just miserable. Talk to your doctor and see if you can figure out a solution! Good luck.
