...to first call rx. not sure what to do now. i dont understand why they wouldnt let me send it.
I am sorry to hear that! Did they give you a reason? Where did you try to send it from if you don't mind me asking? Was it a Walmart or a cash advance place?
i tried to send it online...i might try going to cvs and doing it in person.
they wouldnt give me a reason at all

Did you try sending it online? The reason I ask is because most of the issues seem to be from online transactions.
Curious about this one myself. Was there a reason given, or just a flat out denial? Wondering, because it *could* be an issue with their site. Doubtful, but you never know.
It's worth asking, at least.
@elantra77 There is nothing you can do. This has happened to a friend of mine lately with his western union online account. He was told to go in person. I don't know about moneygram, but western union has some pretty strict self-regulation and anti-fraud measures in place to defeat any possible scenario in case someone gets a hold of your credit card and tries to commit credit card fraud abusing western union's online service. For instance, if you send X amount of dollars in a few days to the same place, regardless of location, for a brand new account, it will raise red flags with WU. I do not know what that threshold is i.e.-what X is. And if the receiver is flagged? Forget about it. You'll be lucky to get your money back, and lucky if you're not banned for life. This debate about using western union or moneygram for BI's (blatantly illegal sites that typically ship from within the US but have funds wired to baja california norte in mexico) has intensified over this past week. My advice is not to order anything from anywhere for a while, until things have simmered down. That is, I would err on the side of caution.

confirmed...
dont send money via monygram online....go to a store and do it in person. i have yet to hear of any problems doing it that way. i would also suggest using cash to send instead of cc/debit card.

I had a MG online transfer "flagged by security" and canceled this morning. I did everything online and then they sent me an email saying I needed to call them to complete the transaction. She said she needed some more information before completing the transaction. She asked me "if I knew the person I was sending it to personally?" to which I responded it was a friend of a friend (didn't quite know what to say). Then she asked "why are you sending it?" and I said this person needed money and I was helping out. Then she put me on hold and came back to tell me that security had flagged it and cancelled.
I asked if I could do it at a brick and mortar location and she said she wasn't sure. Thirty minutes later I did it in person, with cash, and it was fine. I think credit cards might be the problem. I know that when banks get a lot of fraudulent claims for the same type of transaction they just start denying those transactions.

i sure hope some of these BI sites start looking into different payment options because my gut is telling me this MG thing is not going to last much longer. i would ask all you contacts and suggest...or ask if they have back-up plans. that is it they wantto stay in business. once again it seems times are changing. we need to stay on our toes
Other than the typical clerical errors by the piss poor walmart employee, MG in person has not presented a problem for me yet. I try to use a different location but I was at walmart, it was convenient, 2 days later having to go back to fix their screw up takes the cake. I even pointed out her error before leaving the 1st time and she told me "oh, that doesn't matter, with ID they will be able to get the funds". Nope! Had to do it all again after going to MG for refund.
Check cashing places are the best by far. Never never had them mess it up. Walmart, I would say 90% of the time they screw it up.
No...94% of the time!
Fact, they didn't screw it up exactly 1 time.

Had the same problem on Sunday Mammy. Check out the ripped off by WU thread. I'm afraid I started a laugh fest around here because when MG emailed me that I had to call , I did. When the operator asked what the money was for I told him "drugs" . yup! He said they won;t handle that kind of transaction. I had the transaction cancelled and moved on. I was able to move forward with anothe vehicle and it went smoothly this time. Havn't received the product yet, but it is in transit. I think these financial instrument services are indeed clamping down on what may be perceived as suspicious activity. Certain places wiring $ to definitely are an issue (mexico).
My initial attempt through MG was NOT to mexico. I'm either gonna receive my supplements, a LL, or a knock at the door.
Peace

I placed an order tues night that went through wednesday. It was not sent to Baja California Norte however. Seems some vendors have switched up and things are fine if done differently
However, I'm not sure how much you sent.... amount sent also plays a part if people get flagged

Same here. My success rate skyrocketed when I switched to mom-and-pop establishments from corporate MG vendors (Kroger was always my bane, never could get anything right). What's helped even more is exclusively utilizing mom-and-pop establishments in Latino neighborhoods. Not only have I never had an issue with the names being entered correctly, I even had a clerk double check with me b/c a receivers name had a more common spelling than the one I had (correctly) listed.

That's why I started using MG online. I could make sure everything was exactly how it should be. With chain stores I found they screwed up the maternal/paternal last names up a lot.
Mr hir
May I ask if you used the same name or phone number both times? It seems odd they would have different rules for online vs. brick and mortar.
Anyone
Has anyone used a fake name when using money gram. When I did money gram using the phone, they asked for my phone number and had my name and address without asking for it
I did everything the same way when I did it in person, same name and addresses on both ends of transaction. But, I used cash instead of a credit card.
somebody mentioned a certain ammount of money that would raise a flag.does anyone know what that ammount would be? is 300$ a lot?

they never have let me do it online.it has to do with your bank card.western union doesnt let me do it online either.i have wachovia, they said wachovia wont let you do those kind of transactions, they told me to either call my bank or go to store in person.god,no 300 dollars isnt alot.lol.i think it would be more like in the thousands, ive sent under a thousand with no problem.i usually go to publix.they ask no questions.amscot cash advance does ask alittle bit of questions.publix and winn dixie dont.where i live walmart doesnt do it.
