Default Trouble with search Function or me?

Hi folks, I've been reading on here a lot, but have not quite figured out how search works. I put in a medication name get many threads, how to find relevant ones? If I put more than one word I get way too much irrelevant stuff.

Any advice on searching, or must I read everything?

    Thanks

You're going to have to do heaps of reading if you want to find what you're looking for on this site, unfortunately for the impatient. There's a saying people use a lot around here: "anything worth knowing is not easy to come across." So, yes. Probably not the answer you want to hear, and I'm sorry - but that's it.

If it's a good IOP you're looking for - you HAVE to research them extensively, right? If you don't, you get scammed.. and hell, there's still a chance you'll get scammed even after all that research. It is just the price we pay to get what we need.

Default Trouble not the search engine!

Thanks @disasterwhisperer for the response and advice, I will continue to read.
I think I was confused by so much change since joining that i thought i had forgotten how to search properly. I had learned the hard way to stay signed in so my carefully worded (English major) posts didn't disappear into cyberspace, thought i being clueless again.
    Still clueless mostly

@Leap It depends on what you are looking for too. You can try the Health Issues and Medicines area of the forums, see if you can find your malady, or close to it, and read some of the threads and what other people are doing to deal about their health. This part of the forum is very extensive with a ton of information.

You can also do a search to 'find threads' or 'find posts', so you can get a snippet of each post if you do the 'find posts' way.

There is also an advanced search under the same button that allows you to narrow your search to titles or posts, find threads with the most/least replies, search within a specific time frame.

You can also sort your search results by relevency, title, number of replies, number of views, thread start date, last post date, etc.

You can play around with it to get different results and view different areas of the forum.

Thank you very much. I would never have thought of doing any of those things! A big hug for your cute little doggie!

I think your post will be helpful to all of us earnest newbies, or "slowbie" in my case.

You're right, @Leap, it's very frustrating when you type up a whole novel and go to post and you find it's disappeared for whatever technical issues your computer is deciding to have at the current moment. Hate that.

But I wish you luck and hope you find what you need. This is a wonderful community.
