    Default DEA watch list!

I know it sounds pretty much like common sense to stay off of it. Well I ended up on it, my own stupidity, and I wouldn't wanna see anyone else on it. My doc was prescribing 90 7.5's a month after he dropped me down from 120 10's. Well I'd run out towards the end and thought I could just go to the hospital and get some more. This way I had a couple to being back. Well I did this 3 times. And yes I did lie a bit to get the script. Anyways my doc one day was like whoa! You went and got 3 scripts. He cut me off, obviously, and it's damn hard to get pain meds now. I'm a dumbass and please don't follow in my footsteps. Never get another script for narcotics if you already got a month supply. If you run out, just tough it out.

Obviously your stare has a script monitoring database and you shot up a red flag by doing what you did. Sucks for you brother. That's gonna make it real hard for you to get any scripted that's worth a sh1t. Move to another state is the only way to get around what you did there.

Man I am sorry to hear this. I can not imagine the pain and stress you are under right now.

Can you go to a new doc and may e explain WHY you did this? Maybe explain how the meds where not touching your pain? Would that even help? Not sure what you are limited to when you get on a watch list. Or is it where you can not get any narcotics for life now in that state?

I can still get narcotics. It's just gonna be a hell of a lot harder and I'll definately have to find a pain management doctor(which I've already got one in mind). It's just a big sack of shit really, but what can you do? I try to stay as positive about it as I can, which can be rough at times. I appreciate your concern though. @UGAgal

I'm really surprised the ERs you went to didn't catch this. In my ER we check each patient that gets a script for narcs to see if they have filled one recently, for how much and how often. For example we had a patient not long ago who came in with back pain. The patient was in legitimate pain, but had filled a script for 160 10/325 percs not 2 weeks before. We had to notify the prescribing doc and the pharmacy. Most ERs, at least in NY check this stuff. Eventually every ER will. It's only going to get harder. If you happen to get another script, you really should notify your regular prescriber right away. Being honest will get you a lot further than lying. If the patient had been honest with us from the beginning, he probably would have gotten a script, but when he was asked about filling other scripts he lied and said he hadn't filled a script in months. Doctors and hospital are being watched really closely by the DEA, and no one is willing to risk their license and trust me, no hospital wants the DEA watching them. It's just bad news and they watch us enough with narcs already. We do not want anymore scrutiny. Sorry that happened to you. It seems like you learned your lesson though. Good luck!

Yeah that really sucks bro. I was never able to get a legal script for what I take but I can imagine how you must feel. The street prices are retardedly high where I'm at and unfortunately the standard for what a lot of us have to pay. Ever since the pain clinics were shut down in FL the prices have been consistently going up. Hopefully you don't have to completely resort to that and can find another way to get scripted!

  9. I really feel for you dude.. Things are getting really insane with all these new regulations and laws in regard to pain medicine.. I understand the idea behind passing these kind of measures as a way to prevent abuse but after reading a lot of threads on this forum and others it doesn't only hurt the bad people that try and work the system to get narcotics (which im glad it does) it's hurting a lot of real chronic pain patients in their never-ending quest for simple pain relief. In that regard once again, I really feel for ya dude

  10. Sorry to hear about your troubles. I also live in a state that monitors [all] prescriptions. After the 1st of the year, my doctor had to give me a paper prescription for something that had been called in for months even though I had never had a paper script. After this initial script was filled (no refills on the script, they are called on a month to month basis) at a specific chain drugstore they specified so they could monitor me/my usage, they said they could call in future refills. Well, come refill time, they were quicker with their call than I was with telling them which location to use, so they said they just called it into the same pharmacy where I brought my original prescription. The first location was not my usual pharmacy, just somewhere I was working for a couple of days. This wasn't a big deal because I just called to have it transferred closer to me, however it freaked me out that they have so much access to our records!

that is the reason I will never use a national chain again plus in the past 11 months they did not get one of my prescriptions right. (walgreens) last month I went to get one of my meds that was written for 90 days at 1 a day, when I get there I get one bottle that said 90 tablets. I get home open it and it only had 30 tablets in it. I called them again and complained that they only gave me a 30 day supply and it was suppose to be for 90 days. They said oh sorry then I asked them why did they put on the printed label 90 count when in fact it was a unopened factory bottle that read 30 count. She said oh well we just printed the first label for that med and slapped it on the bottle. You have to watch them very close.

@mollysmom Did you agree with your doctor that you would fill all of your prescriptions at the same pharmacy?
That's a typical arrangement lately with pain management practices. They just automatically refill with the original store per your agreement. Don't see any reason for you to freak out about access to your records over this.
If this is the case and you've changed your original pharmacy, you need to inform your doctor's office and get their concurrence or this can become a problem for you in the future.

  13. @alumni, I apologize for being overly dramatic. The 'freaking out' was more internal, than anything else. I don't like the idea of someone/anyone having that much insight into me or my medical needs. This has been ongoing ever since they started requiring my driver's license twice a year when I need real Sudafed from behind the counter to dry my head up.

I did not object when the office told me that was the pharmacy they were using and why they were doing so. He is not a pain management doctor, but he is a specialist and I'm sure there is an agreement to be found somewhere that works in his favor. Pharmacy 'W' is not the only one that is able to monitor every prescription I refill. I am forthcoming with my physicians and I do my fair share of research regarding other prescriptions, i.e. free antibiotics at grocery store 'P' or $1 store cash for every 2 scripts filled at pharmacy 'C'. I can see both sides of the argument [to monitor prescriptions], it just felt a little creepy to have someone accessing my prescription records, since I don't consider myself to be someone who needs to be monitored.

BTW-I sure hope they had a good laugh when they saw the plethora of meds I was prescribed for my dental implant (4 meds that came from 2 pharmacies).

I was told by wal-mart that when you buy cold medicine now they have to put you in the system is why they want your DL, it is because of all the people buying 100 boxes of the stuff to make meth with it.

Yeah, they started doing that in 2007- 2008, maybe earlier in some states.

@all most states have these laws in effect now. Docs, hospitals, urgent cares and
walk-in clinics and pharmacies now have access to this database. The states that
don't have laws in effect yet are very close to passing them. In addition, the feds
are requiring them to link up, so you can't cross state lines to doctor shop.
