Default What to do with all the "Can someone hook me up with a vendor for ____ posts)

It seems every section of this site, has at least a few topics per day that someone blatantly asks for a source/vendor and for a specific medicine.
It's only a nuisance to see the same thing posted in so many threads, and I can only imagine how much of a pain in the ass it is for @kmontayne to manage this constantly.

I know we have an Introduction section, (it seems not enough people use it) but does anyone think we should create a DO's and DON'TS of PR..... (It seems as if the rules thread isn't working very much, as people start posting in any given section before even reading the rules.) I just find this site very helpful for a forum, (I'm used to forums where no-one helps another, flame wars begin, Rick Roll etc.)

How else can we make things more clear for the junior members, cause I hate having to see the same mundane posts over and over (though some seem not to be bothered by it,)

Also, the mods got to go through the trouble of looking for an existing topic to merge it with when someone opens one of these "source" topics. Sometimes, before the topic that is being merged is merged, it may contain a few good posts, revealing a source. (Which I'm sure everyone wants to keep in business.) This is a community full of great information, but people must learn to understand that information /knowledge is not handed out, it is earned and acquired.

When I come across a post like that, and I have a minute...

I'll send a pm to the poster.
Explaining that since they are new (usually) no one wants to message them with a good source. And most responses they get will be from scammers so be careful. And that threads like this will always be shutdown for this and other reasons.

I then put a link to the sections "not yet featured in....", and "general reviews". And tell them they can find most of the good places in there if they read a little. I usually try to avoid posting on the actual thread to keep the clutter down.

But maybe there should be a thread, or short message. Something like you have to read this before you make any posts. Just explaining this and a few other things. An auto pop up would be nice, instead of actually making a thread that people can miss.

@akl63 phew.... I thought I was the only one being bothered by the sudden influx of IOP seekers. I've only been a member for 3 months (not trying to make like I am some honorable member), but like you said all you have to do is read, the information is here.

I think people really are just too lazy to read a forum for a few hours, and if that is the case then they don't deserve a good source ,IMHO.

I too, will PM certain members, depending on how their posts come off, saying "steer clear" of that vendor you thought about using before. I tell them to read, but it just seems like they lurk waiting for someone to get a response on a vendor, and then they are off into the night, never to be seen again.

Not that it matters, but reading this man or woman post's above me, helped me out to find when I needed my first IOP, as well as other members I have to give credit to, especially @Blockhead, @crucibelle.

I think @akl63's idea for a pop-up is a good idea. There should be some sort of forced reading-of-the-rules before people are allowed to post. I probably sound like a broken record with all the times I've told new members "you need to read the forum rules." Some of them end up getting offended, when all I'm doing is trying to warn them before they get themselves in trouble for breaking forum rules. And I must admit, all the "give me a source" posts bug me, too.

ps -- @Caffeine2011: Great post. I'm glad you brought this up.

There is a good reason we can't outright ask for something.
Then its way too easy for someone to open a 2nd account and ask a question, then go back to their original account and answer themselves. In order to draw up more exposure in the free section. I think half the time its done as a way around the rules, and half the time its just a newbie who doesn't know better. So its tough for MODS to differentiate between if someone is just new, or if its someone trying to stir up some publicity for a source.

I've sent @drboris many links to posts in threads like this, and appreciate him reading them and investigating. Its a very hard situation, because I'm sure PR as a whole wants to welcome new members. But old members have figured out how to setup multiple accounts with TOR. Its tough to ban someone too for making their first post one of these "I need a source for this" posts, because without really digging into it, its impossible to tell if its a shill or just a new member. I think the first time I told drB, he said but I really don't know for sure it isn't you making these accts. Because he constantly gets PMs from shills as well as regular users. It puts him and the forum in a tough position. I think he's done a good job though, hopefully a pop-up explaining if you post outright asking for a source you will be banned. That way everybody knows and there will be less grey area.

Im relatively new to this or any other forum do I have probably posted on ode those and I'm sure I answered them. But yes they are annoying when thers like 100 posts saying "where and who has the best diazepam " . The mods must have a hell of a time monitoring this forum especially with people makings multiple accounts etc. Just wanna give a thanks to the mods and to the OP good thread and everyone else good suggestions.

Right at this very minute, I see a fresh spanking new thread looking for a reliable source for oxycodone/opana. (yawns) Excuse me, but the next time it happens I'm posting my p.o. box since they're so desperate & don't care about the forum rules. It'll be a lesson learned, problem solved. I bet they won't be asking anymore soon.

@crucibelle - I know what you mean - I don't want to bother the mods - but I want to keep this site as good as it can be and posts like the aforementioned ones just aren't "Good" per se for a site like these - So what I usually do is repsond w/ a post stating the rules and then report it - that way the OP knows whats going on! Remenmber - we were all new once and I know that I made a few "Where can I find XXXXX drug" posts myself!

I could force people to read a rules thread before posting, it's an option. I think most people would just scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the button to say they'd read it though. Another option is to change the content of the PM which is automatically sent to all new members. Most people seem to read that at least. I will change the text to include something about this.

@Kittsoan1989 -- I usually just tell the person they need to read the rules, rather than reporting the thread. There's a chance the OP won't see your reply if you reply then report. The thread disappears & may never come back. I do report posts that I think will be troublesome, or that I think may be shilling, but I still have that feeling "I'm bugging the mods." I never asked for a source when I was new, but I DID ask for someone to send me a pm, and I received an infraction.

Some of the thread starters like "Where can I find oxy?" dont even have enough posts to receive a pm from a member. I think we should band together, give the mods a break and refer all of those types of posts to @jholden40, @Keith K Stone, @Blockhead and @sambob. They have the gift of "witty" words. If Ive missed any sarcastic, I mean sassy, members, I do apologize.

@teresita - Very good suggestion! Let's inandate those 5 members with all of the "Where can I find ________ posts?" By the 3rd PM we send them, new member will bo so incredibly scared of starting posts like the aforementioned ones will have solved the problem once and for all!

@crucibelle - I do see where you're coming from - if the thread dissapears, then they never know what's up - so perhaps not reporting the thread is the thing to do -GAHHH - such a quandry!

Thats funny, but when these threads get started in the open section, and people make these comments like....

"Please don't talk about this vendor, he wishes not to be talked about on the boards. He's really good ever since I found him, but he's not gonna be around if we keep talking about him."

So thats pretty much saying PMs are the only way to discuss this "great, secret" vendor. Then like @Diamond22 said, people can be directed to send a payment anywhere. Without any way to check on it, since open discussion is not allowed people who can't access the senior area are easy targets. Its really easy to setup an email account, and then send a newbie a PM saying here is that source's email we were talking about. Just try to keep it off the boards.

@Diamond22 seems to be a reasonable person who wouldn't actually do that. But there are endless people here for the wrong reasons that will jump on an opportunity like that. Sending PMs about sources to anyone new who looks like they might fall for a little trick.

I am a new member, I understand the reasons for the rules as they apply to new members, and I agree with them totally. No one should be able to just sign up and then ask, "Where is the best place to order whatever?" and expect to get a list of sources.

What is unfortunate, though, is when someone does their research, and then places an order with a scam site because he/she was unable to find enough information about that particular site to give them reason to question its reliability, even though more information might have been available in the other section.

Don't know the solution to that. I guess it's just something that's going to happen from time to time.
