What is the difference in Adderall Ritalin and Ephedrine? Are they pretty much all the same? Does Ephedrine work as well as Ritalin or Adderall? Thanks!

What is the difference in Adderall Ritalin and Ephedrine? Are they pretty much all the same? Does Ephedrine work as well as Ritalin or Adderall? Thanks!
Hi@ justinslegacy. Adderall(dextroamphetamine) is a CDS CII amphetamine generally prescribed for ADHD or narcolepsy. While NOT physically addictive, it can be psychologically addictive. Ritalin( methylphenidate) is a CDS CII amphetamine-like stimulant generally prescribed for ADHD. Also NOT physically addictive, it can ,like Adderall, cause psychological addiction. Ephedrine is a stimulant available either by RX or OTC and is commonly used as a decongestant. ( Similar to its better known cousin, pseudo ephedrine ...or what you might know as Sudafed) Ephedrine is NOT a CDS. All 3 drugs are stimulants but Ephedrine is not psychologically addictive. Hope you find this information to be of some use. Good luck and be careful with Adderall

Thank you for your post! I guess I was wondering as well...strength? Is one stronger then the other? Does anyone have experience or know? Thanks!
@justinslegacy. Strength is kind of relative because it depends on dosing as well and everyone reacts differently to medications. However, Adderall , because it is a true amphetamine would be the strongest stimulant of the three. Next, would be Ritalin and Ephedrine would be last on this list. Again, some people respond differently to these medications so YMMV. Good Luck!

Hello,
Ritalin is methylphenidate, which only activates the Dopamine Neurotransmitter, causing a greater release and a slower reuptake from the synaptic cleft.
Adderall is dexamphetamine, which acts on both the dopamine and the noradarenaline neurotransmitter causing a greater release and a slower reuptake from the synaptic cleft.
Ephedrine is a neurotransmitter mimic, that binds to the beta-2 Adrenergic receptors, causing a stimulatory effect. It is much less addictive, and not nearly as stimulatory as the Adderall or the Ritalin. With that said, sensitivity can develop quickly, and it can lead to heart issues and other side-effects commonly associated with stimulants.
They are relativel different drugs, but ephedrine is still a serious stimulant that should be treated as such, especially when combined with caffeine, which is has a synergistic effect with.
Good luck man.

I also know that alot of people who have taken both cocaine and ritalin have told me that they feel pretty similar. At least more similar than Adderal and cocaine but I think that is only if you snort it(which I really don't recommend).

@Robomarley1
Cocaine effects the dopamine synapse by prohibiting the re-uptake of DA from the synapse itself.
Ritalin, if my memory serves me, does the same thing, though at a much lower level.
It would make sense they have similar effects.
Both act on the same Dopaminergic pathways in the brain.

All of these post have excellent information. Swim told me that ephedrine is not going to be worth the effort. He said it works really well for sinus problems and does raise his heart rate but nothing more than that. It used to be sold all over the place and called white cross. However groups of people found ways to tamper with Ephedrine and turn it into a schedule i drug. Hope this helps

Yes ephedrine is not worth getting, don't waste your time and money on it. Sudafed or any OTC medicines will not get you high anymore. Trust me, they changed something in the formula so it won't get you high even if you take endless amounts of it. The only good thing for Pseudoephedrine is making...
As for Adderall and Ritalin, Adderal gives you more of the happy motivated feeling than Rits, IMO. But they both stimulate you enough to get the job done. I recommend you use both of them, but cycle it to keep your tolerance low as possible.
Snorting is always a bad idea IMO;jacks up you tolerance!
Ritalin seems to revert to a more anti-anxiety type effect after daily use for 2-3 weeks. Instead of an energetic type of euphoria the longer term results in feeling like a person with ADD being slowed down. Never had that reaction with regular amphetamine when I could get Eskatrol or "Black Beauties" back in the '60s'-'70s'. Adderal is great, but difficult to find.
The only way I find Ritalin useful is periodically. One to three days of use, then leave it alone for a week or more. But that could just be me. Trying to depend more on modafinil for long work days and the hour long drive home.

I believe Ephedrine effects the body as strong as amphetamines, but does not act on the mind with the same intensity. That is why people use Ephedrine for weight loss.
