    Smile New DOCTOR

Im seeing a new doctor starting first wek in AUG. Im going to tell him everything on the way i feel everyday. Anxitey/moods, always sleepy, and i dont have any energy. He has started bloodwork already before he went away on holidys. Im going to tell him i have done Valium, xanax to see if that would help me. Im going to be straight up with this doctor. I hope he undrstands what im telling him cause he is one of the best. Im very lucky to have found him.

Good luck with your new doctor @chris100

It's always such a relief to have someone who actually cares and views you as a patient and not a statistic.

I am with you there my friend. It is a relief to just tell the truth and let the chips fall where they may. You have done your part. Now, if you are unsatisfied I would try again because that is your right too and too many people give up on themselves. Me included!

Ordering benzos does not mean you have founf the right one for yourself. It means your trying to find the right one and as of now i dont know yet. So im not supporting any statment. Im just trying to look for the righ one. Holy shit i wont ask that again to you two. Never mind.

Default Glad you've found a new MD

    @chris100

I'm so glad to hear you've found a new MD. I'll say a little prayer that this new MD listens carefully to what you've tried and comes up with a formula that really helps you. Keep us posted.

Me too. I know that even those who order online often would prefer to medicate under a doctors guidance. I think that is a good option to seek out and am glad you are trying. Let's encourage Chris, shall we folks? Isn't that why we are here?

Chris, one piece of advice, although you should tell him your past consumption, do not mention buying off the web unless he asks. Then use your judgement. Me, I would go w/getting some from a friend who thought you should try it to see if it helps.

I know you want to be totally honest w/your new doc and that is good; however, buying med off the web is a huge flag and could prevent you from developing the relationship you want with this doctor. I have posted often about my great PCP, and I don't EVER tell her about any web activity.

If you disagree, let's discuss. I am always open to a good discussion especially if it's a helpful one.

waterfall has written what I wanted to express to you as well. You have to remember Chris that whatever you say to this doctor will be entered in your chart, your electronic chart, and this will follow you for years to come. So my advice as an older person is to present your symptoms, and let the doctor decide how to treat you. These days, general practitioners don't do much apart from sending you to the proper specialists, where care is given and meds prescribed, and then the general practitioner takes it from there, and follows the protocol set up by the specialist. The days of the good old country doctor doing it all are long gone.

Good luck, I hope and wish you get the help you are looking for.

    Default Excellent advice, @waterfall

    Yes, Chris

I wanted to say that too. Be sure you are as honest as possible without revealing any source that was not through RX. I'm sure (remember I'm an RN) that with the extensive info the MD will be collecting, he/she won't want who prescribed what for all your past meds, so, if necessary, be vague about who prescribed what, just make sure you list all that you have tried and whether it worked or not. I have personally taken patient histories, and the most important fact is what has been tried, when, and whether it worked or not. It's also important what was taken with what if you know what I mean....like did you try Abilify with Trazodone (just and example), or Valium with Seroquel, etc....keep us posted how this goes for you. Wishing you the best.

@chris100 Good luck with your new doctor but a word of advice from one Canuck to another--

Don't share ANY information about meds you are taking from your many online purchases--this is just asking for trouble! Be as honest as you can with what you have already been scripted by other actual doctors and make sure to detail your symptoms/feelings. I suggest writing this down in as much detail as possible so you don't forget anything.

Getting a script for benzos here in Canada is not that hard but they will monitor you and see if it does help. Also, i don't know of any doctor that won't also prescribe an SSRI or the like for "mood swings". This will be trial and error of course but they will want to know what you have already taken, what was the effect, etc etc.

Also, as others have said, you have obviously ordered and tried other medications--nothing has helped? I'm not judging, just asking. Myself i order valium sometimes to help with really bad insomnia and anxiety but rarely take it. Codeine as well for my horrible migraines/back pain.

Anyway, i hope it all works out! You must be anxious having to wait so long to actually see this new doc but in the wait keep records of what is going on, this will help the doc to know more.

    Cheers xoxox

@chris100, as cherrybomb said, so sez I. I don't really know how helpful this is, but when we lost our good rural doc (big fish, small pond situation) our local medical college commitee published (!) medical records after he was busted... Even 10 years back, every benzo or opiate receiver thru initial only, to maintain patient confidentially ...suffered a slur.. Tell him your problems, but your sources .... Let him wonder. Just my opinion

I wish I could find a good MD that listens. The VA doesn't do that. It amazes me that when I go there the senior citizens walk out with tons of contolled grugs, and the younger opeople none. Weird! If any one has a suggestion for a good MD that will listen in Phoenix Az let me know. Thanks!

No update? I'm taking a bet he was placed on anti-depressants and a small quantity of low dose benzos.

I find it best to play ignorant, and dumbfounded. And when the convo steers towards "you might/will get addicted", will pretty much land you with nothing.

Nowadays, I believe the regulations are even tighter than before. No doc absolutely wants to prescribe medications that can be abused. Either he will offer alternative meds/advice or steer him towards a specialist.

I hardly want to see a doctor unless its absolutely needed. Waste of Time and CoPay, going doc shopping.
