Default Is Coca Tea Legal To Buy?

I've never tried coca or cocaine, but I was googling it, and I saw that you can actually buy it through Amazon. I tried to buy it, but I either got a message from Amazon saying it was not legal in my area, or I got charged a fifty dollar postage fee, which seemed a little too high for me to pay. From what I've heard, coca isn't even a real drug, it's more like coffee than cocaine, but I wouldn't even know. Coca Cola sure made a name for themselves by putting it in their drink when they started out.

I'm assuming it has to be illegal. When I traveled in South America, Coca Leaves were sold on the side of the road by little old women. The leaves numb your mouth as cocaine would, and gives you a euphoric rush of energy. I'm assuming that if the tea is made from these leaves, then it most certainly can not be legal in the US or any other country that has a ban on cocaine.

Coca tea is legal in Peru, Bolivia, Colombia, and Ecuador. And it is illegal in the United States.

Buycocatea ships for $10. I've never tried it. I don't know how amazon gets away with charging $50 to mail.

My father worked for Coca-Cola in R&D for 40 years.

I wanted to expand on this statement and add some additional information for clarification.

The coca leaf actually has quite a rich history. I won't waste forum space detailing it all, you can look it up.

Cocaine is the primary alkaloid in the coca leaf. In the 1860's, this alkaloid was isolated and successfully extracted, in Germany I believe. Believing it to be some sort of miracle drug for it's intellectually stimulating effects, it's discovery spawned hundreds of products containing pure cocaine, everything from candles, sprays, pills, ointments and of course, tonics. These products were widely available throughout Europe and America.

The most popular tonic of the time period was Vin Tonique Marinai containing coca and alcohol. It has been historically reported that Ulysses S. Grant consumed it daily, as did President William McKinley. Thomas Edison was an imbiber, as was Jules Verne, Robert Louis Stevenson, Arthur Conan Doyle and H.G. Wells. Sigmund Freud even wrote about it in his "On Coca" in 1884.

In 1885 John Styth Pemberton invented Peruvian Coca Wine. It contained a mixture of coca extracts and red wine and was his attempt to cash in on the popularity of Vin Tonique Marinai, as it was a knock off.

Later in 1885 Atlanta and the surrounding county enacted prohibition. In an effort to keep his drink alive he removed the alcohol, fiddled with the ingredients, renamed it French Wine Coca and this was the early version of Coca Cola. It was also intended to be a patent medicine because it's two primary ingredients: coca leaf and kola nut, were medicinal. (believed to be at the time, anyway, along with carbonated water, imagine )

(skips a whole bunch of fascinating Coca Cola history)

By 1906, a label from a syrup bottle of Coca Cola lists one of it's ingredients as "extractives (sic) from coca leaves, cocaine removed".

Coca Cola still contains extract from coca leaves. Stepan Laboratory in New Jersey is the only commercial entity in the US authorized and licensed by the DEA to import coca leaves, an estimated 100 metric tons a year.

They separate the coca flavor from the cocaine, sell the flavor(s) Coca Cola requires for it's syrup to them, and sells the pure cocaine to Mallinckrodt, a pharmaceutical company in St. Louis, MO. Incidentally, Mallinckrodt is one of the only importers of opium from India. Mallinckrodt is the only legal source for cocaine in the US.

So, the bottom line is the name Coca Cola isn't antiquated. When you purchase a genuine Coca Cola product today, you are purchasing a beverage contained the genuine flavors of the coca leaf and the kola nut.

    It's the Real Thing. ®

Is Coca Tea a real deal? It kind of irritates me that you can buy that over the counter (even though it's illegal, but that doesn't stop most people) but getting a doctor to prescribe opiates when you have 13 years of records and MRIs and tests is almost impossible these days.

I was gonna bring some back from SA but was freaked out and rightfully a so with all the dogs in the airport. Stuff is like magic for altitude sickness and energy. It is ubiquitous in the highlands of SA. Every hotel offers it. There are a bunch of websites that sell it but I just don't know if it legal to own since it does have cocaine in the leaves. It's such a small amount though it would take pounds to even consider being used as a drug.

I might buy some from a website now that i am home but I have not yet. As for bringing it home from abroad think about the risk!!!

I had a chef from Peru that worked for me. This goes back years. His wife would go back to visit sometimes and would bring back coca tea.

He'd give me a couple boxes. I was young then and got all excited.

Meh. It did nothing for me and I am sure it was the real deal.

You can order it online. I noticed some places. If it gets seized you are out of luck.

I think you would get more out of a can of Red Bull.

Short answer, no, this is NOT the real deal. This is a scam. How do I know? I was one of the fools that got separated from his $$$$. I bought a box of this tea and ended up throwing it away. They are using denatured coca leaves that have ZERO active material in them.

Please don't waste your money on this deal.

It's just not worth it anyways. There are better herbal drinks out there than the mass produced coca tea you would get.

Now if you were high up in the Andes with some fresh leaves, and well probably a different story.

Unfortunately, it is illegal unless it is "decocainized", which is the process that removes 99% of the active Cocaine as well as a majority of the flavor. In 1961 an international treaty was pushed to wipe out the Coca plant from the face of the earth and as a result any tea you buy in the U.S. or other treaty participating nations that is marked "For Export", or "Export Quality", has been decocainized.

While the coca leaf in its natural form is a harmless and mild stimulant comparable to coffee, there is no doubt that cocaine can be extracted from the coca leaf. Without coca there would be no cocaine. The 'ready extractability' of cocaine from coca leaves is currently the major argument to justify the current illegal status of the leaf - so just buy the real thing. Its going to be cheaper and easier and its just as illegal.

Since it supposedly kills your appetite & keeps you awake
for days or weeks.... not something the average person
would wanna mess with. I've no intention taking a crap in
a 10X10 foot cell, while my roomie's checking my progress.
The food also sucks, and the clothing options do nothing to
    enhance me "girlish" figure

Is it legal to import coca tea into the U.S.?

    Nope

Can you buy it through amazon and other web sites anyways?

    yep

    Does it get through?

sometimes. anything over a 1000g and your asking for
    a seizure letter.

how much cocaine is in one tea bag(1 gram)?

"5.11 mg, and 4.86 mg of cocaine per tea bag were found in coca leaf from Peru and Bolivia, respectively"

There's no cocaine in decocainized tea. right?

"...4.8 mg of cocaine per bag...ingredients were listed as ‘decocainized coca leaves’"

Default At the Coca, Coca Cabana...

Personally I enjoy coca leaves. I get them from Peru, in small shipments. I chew them with a Llipta (activator) that I buy as well (though you could use baking soda). I have to say that they are very enjoyable (mild euphoria) and give me tons of energy and focus, as well as killing all the pain I have in my neck (I have a very, very diseased neck). I love chewing them when I'm doing housework, studying, etc - anything that requires focus. I can say with absolute certainty that the ones I buy are not by any means de-cocainized (I buy the whole leaf, not tea bags). I have never had a shipment seized.

You chew it along with baking soda? Isnt that awfully salty? Im not really looking for it but found the tea curious. I get sick of coffee some nights at work and drink tea but have never tried cocoa tea.
