Which Visa gift/prepaid cards will work for IOP?

I'd like to order from EDandmore, but they only take Visa cards. I have five credit cards and a debit card, yet none of them are a Visa (which is odd to discover...no pun intended ). I've read on the forums that 99% of prepaid / gift cards won't work with IOPs. Does that really leave me to having to use a damned check? Ugh.

I'm particularly interested in the "instant" virtual Visa cards...apparently they work just like a normal card, and they're prolific in use with gambling sites. I wouldn't recommend using the Vanilla Visa's. I've had problems with those in the past doing anything online. Those are the prepaid ones you see most often at Walmart and target. I've had trouble using them for something as simple as ordering a pizza so yeah steer clear

Green Dot is a good prepaid you can just add what amount you want on it and re use it in future. I did see a Western Union pack that had pre paid amounts like $250. I didn't really check it out but pretty sure is was a preloaded card. I like Pkay had problem with vanilla visa in the past so now I stick with a Green Dot card.

Definitely check out Green Dot. I've never used them personally but have had trusted friends vouch for them. And you can choose pre-paid Visa or Mastercards.

I have the same problem by only having a mastercard and no visa. I too have also discovered that most online pharmacies only accept visa for cc payments. I did place an order online with a pharmacy using my mc but have had a horrible experience in doing so. I never received my order and am afraid I have been scammed. When I called them to inform them I haven't received my order they said they would reship my order but I am very skeptical because I had previously sent them several e-mails with no reponse. The only reason why I insist on using my mc is because of their fraud protection policy.

I have since found plenty of dependable pharmacies but don't have a visa to purchase. I had intention on buying a prepaid visa but like you said many places won't accept them as payment. Plus I fear a prepaid card doesn't carry the same fraud protection and insurance as a regular credit card. It looks like I'm gonna have to take my chances with either WU or a certified international money order which could further delay your shipping because of the time it takes to clear through the banking system.

Any help on finding a pharmacy that does accept mc or prepaid visa would be greatly appreciated. I have found companies that advertise mc payment but once I go to pay for my purchases I discover that they currently don't accept mc payments.

cheapestonlinedrugstore.com says they accept mc but I haven't tried to order from them yet.

I hope this post doesn't break any rules for I am fairly new to this site and mod please feel free to edit my post if I have done so.

u must make sure the card is for international purchases. i cannot swear which one people say. gotta read. i know u must put extra monies on to cover international costs. as much as $20 to be safe for international fees.
i bet if u have a checking account, u can get a visa debit to go with it. usually. but, if for any reason, such as medicaid or foodstamps, and u must show ur entire bank transactions, u will lose privacy.
also, check out paypalsucks.com. if u r using a place associated with paypal, they really frown upon adult transactions. medical transactions. any disputes. they will freeze ur entire bank account, for up to 3 months, if a dispute occurs, or, for "routine monitoring purposes." so, if u use paypal, and it is associated with ur bank account, ur whole account is frozen. not just the amount in dispute.
paypal is less than honorable.
i have not yet seen the exact answer as to which card one is to buy to make an international purchase.
(i know my debit visa works when i authorize same. to my bank. u gotta have balls to do this, u know. u must personally tell ur bank u authorize charges from some wacko name. and u take full responsibility. and it is herbal vitamins and medicines for ur illness. and, stick to it.)

defnitely frusturating to say the least. I think for me the best bet is to try and find a reliable source that does accept mc. I have no problem paying by money order or wu but I would need to be 100% sure the company that I am ordering from is reliable. My search continues.

I said this in another post, but you should be able through your bank to get a Visa Check Card. Go down to your bank, open a second checking account and get a Check Card for that.

Now leave that account always at a $0 balance until you want to make a purchase, then simply go online and drop the funds into the account (Should be instant). You get the added benefit of being able to dispute charges like a credit card, and help keep any over billing in check.

The one they give you at the start can not be used for international transactions, which accounts for much of the activities in relation to ops.

But I just received my official card last week, two weeks later, which can be used for purchases ********.

I don't know of many that instantly give you ******** usage

Thanks, guys....very helpful. My bank doesn't offer Visa for debit cards as far as I can tell. I'll check out Green Dot. Is there a specific thing I should look for to ensure it's international?

I can attest to the fact that a vanilla visa prepaid card doesn't work and will be rejected if tried to use outside the 48 states. It does say in the packaging, although I can't remember if it says so on the outside of the package where you could see before you rip it open after putting money on it. So yeah, for purchases outside the US save the $5 it costs to put money on a vanilla visa because it doesn't work.

yup, ditto on the "US only purchases" t says it on the packaging. BUT have you looked into buying one online? A visa prepaid, that is. Not a gift card. There is a difference. I'ved been checking into this but havent gotten very far yet.
Another thought is alot of plcs that take Visa take AMEX too. Might wanna check their ******** policies too.

Agree. Stay away from the ones where you register at visagiftcardmall They are hard to register and very few place accept them. Go to your local check cashing place. IMO, they have the best prepaid Visas.

Has anyone here ever used the Visa Buxx cards. i remember back in the day i had a friend whole got one for his teen son, and the would use it to make international purchases. Its a prepaid card but can be used ******** and it has fraud protection, you know you put money on it and if you get scammed then you just report it stolen and they will make sure you get the money back. the website is on the visa site and it called a visa buxx card... maybe this could work for persons in a bind, any input?

As I said, mine doesn't work. It is Green Dot, purchased from Walmart, GE Bank, permanent and refillable. Do you have a Green Dot that works? Now I am about to launch a personal international Visa search.lol

Green Dot doesn't allow international transactions until you receive your "personalized" visa in the mail after activating the temporary card... Once you get that card, you should have no problems using it for ******** transactions.

@sisty9blunts. Now I question if I used my temporary card it was so long ago. I will have to refill it the permanent one and try again. I will report back but I don't plan on placing order this week.
